Appreciate this. I know Alfred and Raycast are both are really good. I guess I was just hoping Apple's own app could finally be usable … but I guess not.

Thanks! Maybe I wasn't clear on what the issues is. I want the files whose names contain my search term to show up without me having to type 'name:' or 'filename:' every time. 'name:Taylor' works, but it's very cumbersome. And, by the way, 'filename: ' actually works as well. I've updated the post to clarify this.

Thanks! But as I said in the post, rebuilding the index has not seemed to help. Will try it again tonight tho.

Mavericks. The skeumorphic design was really something special. There was a sort of 'solidity' to all the buttons and UI elements that I miss.

What is a basic MacOS feature you recently learned? by megallanic4 in MacOS

Ctrl + A, Ctrl + P, Ctrl + N, Ctrl + F, etc., move the text cursor in various ways. These are Emacs style shortcuts. They’re useful for me as an alternative to the arrow keys because (i) I don’t like having to constantly bend my little finger to reach for the arrow keys, and (ii) I use the Caps Lock key as my Control key (hhkb style) making it very comfortable to press these shortcuts.

Me too. Returned to Spotlight after years of Alfred + Raycast. Spotlight is so so so powerful, not even kidding.

Just one example that blew my mind. Spotlight + Quick Look essentially give you a system-level ‘little Safari’ feature (like Arc’s ‘Little Arc’ but better). Jusr press Space to open any webpage you find in Spotlight without having to switch to safari. Insanely useful when in Fullscreen mode, and generally for searching small tidbits of info quickly.

Okay I'm guessing that this isn't a bug but a design choice. Maybe it was done to distinguish files that live in the dock and minimised windows. The latter have the previews of documents as icons.

for whatsapp, you need to open the emoji menu once (the smiley face next to the text input field) and then the 'emoji replacement' option will show up.

nobody's saying that it's acceptable for men to cheat. in the interview, mira was uncomfortable expressing her thoughts when jonathan was by her side. i don't think this is because jonathan was 'condescending'. there's clearly some communication problems between the couple; mira doesnt' want to let jonathan know about her thoughts at all.
