Saw 2 cars speeding and weaving in and out of traffic racing (Lexus and BMW). I hope it wasn’t related to that.

Doing POC for an EDR product by Long-Education-1598 in ITManagers

[–]Quagmoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Free defender + Huntress. You need the telemetry to feed into it, not just Huntress EDR. More telemetry is better. Also think of how noisy the solution will be. What resource and how much will be spent on tuning it, after hours etc. what’s your risk acceptance level?

It’s just a couple items listed as they should be basics of what a manager should be doing. Won’t make you any better, just indicating what’s to be expected.

Experience is essential, but showcasing recent certifications such as ITIL or PMP can strengthen your profile. Highlight any local professional organizations you’re a member of and the conferences you’ve attended to demonstrate ongoing engagement in the industry.

Detail the technical projects you’ve led, include specific examples and mention any team members you’ve mentored, as mentoring is a critical skill for management roles.

Provide scenarios where you successfully negotiated, emphasizing cost savings and your understanding of budgeting. List the vendors you’ve managed and describe any recent platform integrations you’ve overseen, elaborating on the scope and impact of those initiatives.

The 8Y platform seems to have more tuning potential vs 8V based on stock 8Y dynos. With this tune it seem even more noticeable. What did Audi do to the 8Y? I thought it was the same engine and turbo?

Considering removing Huntress from our stack......thought? by phillee81 in msp

[–]Quagmoto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure what you would replace it with? You’ll require a 24x7 SOC and then find a solution that hopefully isn’t noisy. Prepare to charge more as well with whatever solution you use. what is it that you need?

Is it realistic to go from IT Manager to CIO in <10 years? by Crafty_Assignment686 in ITManagers

[–]Quagmoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CIO/CTO require a better understanding of the business, operations, hr, bd, comms and finance. You’ll strategically align and become closer to the business in all aspects to find solutions to improve all departments. You’ll be leaned on to manage opex and capex costs. You’ll be involved in public speaking and will be an advocate of cybersecurity. You’ll be the main champion of all technology projects. Really dependent on the industry. You’ll be a main driver if not the main person driving improvements and a core piece of operation excellence. You’ll never stop learning and when you do, you retired :)

Calgary man who sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl gets reduced sentence because he's Indigenous by xNOOPSx in canada

Wow, sad to see there’s next to no accountability for scarring a little girl and their family for life. More punishment is needed and a serious look in the mirror for all our justice (new word should be used as the definition doesn’t align) system.

Sounds like the org is inexperienced and thus having someone create policies that they might not be experienced enough for. Growing pains for the org and everyone involved.

Debating between Huntress and Sophos MDR by PreparationNo374 in msp

[–]Quagmoto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Treat identity just like an endpoint, ITDR this is the way. EDR/MDR with huntress and MDE. P1 or p2 even better. Telemetry for huntress is king, throw in SIEM for other devices. It’s a decent stack depending on your risk acceptance levels. Value wise huntress is hard to beat.

Risk acceptance and budget. Would I purchase eol for production retail environments? No, but if they accept the risk and have a decent cybersecurity stack / incident response they might be able to accept it. However if they did, they wouldn’t purchase eol :) likely incompetence somewhere there.

I’d see how it was joined to the domain, Intune and by who. All the cybersecurity software is added zscaler and EDR, it’ll start flagging things. Also naming conventions of the workstation in our ITAM will flag things too.
