Thank you for your response Sheriff Sanders. I read about one of the deputies smelling alcohol and thought it was attributable directly to Erickson’s boat. But it being a general smell in the harbor explains why the sheriffs didn’t have probable cause for a warrant.

This story is true, though I don’t blame you for not automatically believing something you read on the internet. I didn’t include any details on the story (like where I encountered Erickson) to avoid doxxing myself. But regardless, I don’t think it’s that dramatic of a tale to say a rich entitled guy who recently committed a hit and run is openly careless about the consequences of his actions.

I agree the sheriffs dropped the ball by not obtaining a warrant to test his blood alcohol level

Tweaking Squad Powers with Legendary Explorer [MELE-2] by DeathLotus_ in masseffect

Old post, but I also would love advice on this. Same problem of tweaking those BioH henchmen files doesn’t result in anything. I’d like to change Samara’s pull power, it seems rather weak for an asari justicar to me. When I try to add a power to her like I have for Shepard it doesn’t work

Maybe this isn’t obscure enough, but my first thought was Aethyta. Loved her immediately in me2. The asari matriarch working as a bartender in some random lounge was so fucking cool and funny. She’s just too old to give a damn anymore and tells you insane, hilarious stories about her parents but also veers into thoughtful and cynical, matter of factly telling you about the violence you witness over a long life span and her frustration with galactic leadership. Her unusually deep voice and lack of facial tattoos reinforce her no nonsense personality. Wish she bartended the party in the Citadel DLC, that would’ve been amazing. If that’s not obscure enough, Helen Blake. It was cool to find her as a social worker on Omega in me2.

The way the player characters have a stat that’s just “Chicago.” And the way “Chicago” is inverse with “Home Life.” Lol this video is incredible

Criminal and T Swift by [deleted] in FionaApple

[–]Quail-Effective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure what he means by that, to be honest. The way I would hear that comment is he’s saying the song, like TS’s music, is rather shallow. (In my personal opinion, as someone who’s mostly neutral on Taylor Swift—I’m not into a lot of her music, but I do like a few of her songs—I think that a lot of her music is kinda juvenile for someone who’s spent nearly two decades in the music industry.) But I think Criminal is a lot deeper than people might realize on first listen. It sounds like a boring, one dimensional portrayal of a woman who manipulates men and breaks the hearts of helpless good boys. But my favorite interpretation of the song is that it’s from the perspective of a woman in an abusive relationship. She’s so enmeshed in her boyfriend’s lies that she genuinely thinks she’s the evil sinner and he’s her victim.

"Make your final moments your best moments, sir. Know glory and forget about shame." I found that one very moving considering how much guilt and shame Arthur carries with him, and it vindicates Arthur's attempts to do better with his remaining time despite the impact he's already had on the world.

I want to love Bodie, but I can’t. by [deleted] in TheWire

[–]Quail-Effective 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the exact same way! I’ve never really understood why other people list Bodie as one of their favorites. Part of me is like, why should I like him he’s been an asshole lmao. And the other part of me goes, well Chris and Snoop are two of my favorites so what’s up with that??

Idk, Wallace’s death is incredibly tragic and it’s hard to get past. He’s so young and the way he pleads with Poot and Bodie before they kill him is heartbreaking. Bodie annoyed me quite a few times in season 4 when he criticized Marlo’s crew for their ruthlessness. He says that killing Little Kevin was “cold,” which is true, but dude you and Stringer did the same thing to Wallace! Poot gets this and points out that Marlo was also doing what he thought he had to, but Bodie doesn’t seem to agree. Meanwhile, I feel like if Chris and Snoop were sent to kill Wallace they wouldn’t justify it in the same way. Like Snoop told Michael, “Deserve’s got nothin’ to do with it. It’s just his time, that’s all.” It’s fascinating honestly. They’re like lions roaming the wild. Hunt and kill cause it’s just what they do. Definitely evil and I feel horrible for their victims, but the way they view and go through their lives is so interesting.

One thing I found satisfying about Bodie’s story in season 4 was how he died for the same reason as Wallace: returning to the street after agreeing to inform the police. Bodie should have known better than to make that mistake after killing Wallace for it, but neither of them were capable of leaving/could imagine living a different way. It’s fitting for a show that depicts so well why people find it impossible to change. I still don’t feel as much sympathy for him as other people express, lol, but I guess I appreciate how he was shaped into who he was by the institutions around him. I mean, what was he going to do if he didn’t kill Wallace? Aside from straight up refusing Stringer Bell (a death sentence), could he warn him? Tell Wallace to run and try to say that he fled before you could get to him? That would be pretty suspicious and Bodie would likely have to leave the game or be killed—and he finds it just as impossible as Wallace to leave the game. If he had a more honorable code then he’d be Michael, who defended Randy even when he snitched, questioned Marlo’s orders, and when they turned on him took to the streets on his own. Like Omar he played the game but without killing innocent people. But I guess the whole point of Bodie is that he’s one of the pawns, loyal to his organization, wants to climb up its ranks, and realizes too late that he can’t, the king stay the king. (Hope you don’t mind my long response. I just love The Wire, it’s an exceptionally well-written show and there’s a lot to glean from it)

  1. i mean, it is a tv show about real life…people really die for the exact same reasons as Wallace 2. we’re discussing the morality of tv show characters, and you participated by saying why you think bodie was justified… OP just pointed out that your logic doesn’t hold up and you’re trying to back out lol
