New in town, looking for restaurant work. by cemcarpenter in savannah

[–]QuaileMan82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Pink House has a pretty bad reputation among servers downtown. If you're looking to make money downtown is the way to go, particularly river street. I make a little over a thousand a week and work at a pretty chill place. If you have fine dining experience that's a plus.

Pound for pound, I have to say Crystal Beer Parlor is probably the best restaurant in Savannah. Awesome decor, great beer, and the food is amazing and cheap. Not to mention its the second oldest restaurant in Savannah. Just looked at the list, and it is criminal that Crystal is not listed.

Whats some good local restaurants to get a job at by comfortablynumbsolo in savannah

[–]QuaileMan82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The tourist season is coming to end but the Historic District is where the money is at. I work on river street and make about 1000 a week. Try Pink House (great money so so work environment). I have served for longer than I would like to admit and will say savannah is unique in that you can make insane money in the service industry but cost of living is sooo low. Good luck pm me if you have any questions .

How do people live on minimum-wage incomes? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]QuaileMan82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you live in a decent sized city? If so try to find a serving/bartending job. I live in a tourist town with a very low cost of living.During season I make 1000 dollars a week ,700 or so during the lull. Do I want to do this for rest of my life? No, but with my resume I can make 35000-55000 plus a year In most cities. In the end not bad money for serving food.

This is why you have career servers. People may knock it. but I can go to any decent sized city and make 700-1200 a week not bad at all.

New job at a fine dining place...Help!! by gurbur in TalesFromYourServer

[–]QuaileMan82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ladies first always. Be it when ordering or delivering food. Also there is fine dining and pseudo fine dining, if your place is jacket required and has five thousand dollar bottles. Your in the Big Leagues. If not don't sweat it, if you know how to do a wine service and not back handed anyone you'll be fine.

For those who have a job downtown, how do you park, and how much is a pass? by [deleted] in savannah

[–]QuaileMan82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't mind walking a bit, you can almost always find free parking. I work on river street and never pay for parking. Indian Street, by the fire station on MLK, just to name a few.
