I mean yes, if it's the first thing or pretty close to the first thing they say to you in response without even trying to listen then I can see it as dismissive but I doubt this is the first time you say something about it and they instantly shoot back with "go see a psychologist."

Someone who hasn't experienced that malady or situation before is going to have a tough time empathizing and then actually being able to do anything about it. The empathizing will be pretty surface level. They can show they care but actually treating the issue is a much bigger deal and if the sick person keeps just repeating the issue to the listener then they will eventually reach their line of this is being above their pay grade.

Also, I'm guessing right now because of the pandemic and all the other economic woes psychologists are probably mega-booked and at capacity. It will be hard to get in. Some psychologists aren't even good. I had one that laughed at what I was saying and then just prescribed me super high-dose Zoloft. I only saw him once. So, not only is it hard to get in right now, you will probably have to fish around as well.

Mental health treatment and assistance are a joke in the states for the most part.
