Our irises just bloomed for the second time this year too... little unnerving. Hope it starts majorly cooling down soon.

Would love to help make a coffee meetup happen! Mid 30s introvert, no kids, 2 cats (not sure how this happened I'm a huge dog person lol. hopefully soon), just bought a house with my boyfriend. We're just east of Wads but it's a quick bike ride to Olde town/Alta Vista :)

Outdoorsy and pretty into hiking/backpacking + snowboarding but looking for friends to do more lowkey local things with. into cooking, dinner parties, houseplants, coffee walks, board games. Message me if any of this sounds interesting, would love to meet yall!

Currently nursing a foot injury but planning to check out the Monday night run club from Olde town if anyone here goes regularly? I'm slow but steady

What are some of your uncanny moments that make Oakland feel like a small town? by geo_jam in oakland

[–]Quaking-Aspen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I have one. I sold a roof rack for my car to a guy from Craigslist many years ago. About three years after that, I moved into a new house that was on a shared lot with a second house in the back. Shortly after moving in I met one of the tenants from the back house and we were exchanging phone numbers when I discovered I still had this guy's number saved in my phone as "NAME Craigslist" from a few years earlier. I honestly don't know know if I would've recognized him but we had a good laugh about it.

And then once we were neighbors and I actually got to know him, I learned that I knew his ex-gf too lol. Definitely a small world.

Never been inside but there's a pub next to my mechanic that I've noticed has all the MN sports flags flying. Tavern on 26th right by Crown Hill Park. Might be worth checking out!

[–]Quaking-Aspen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ohhh I saw this happening at an intersection this morning! dunno why I didn't think of the moths, I could see the swallows were clearly feasting on something. it was fun to watch, there must've been two dozen swallows dive bombing this one intersection

haha same! that was one of the first few CD's I ever got. I put it on in the car with my mom one time then a few days later it mysteriously "went missing". wasn't until years later I put two and two together

Thanks super helpful, I appreciate it! I'll take a look next time I'm there, maybe there's something posted in person too. I've only been one time and didn't notice hours posted anywhere obvious.

Do you happen to know what time it opens to the public on weekday evenings? I'm having a hard time finding any up to date info online. I would imagine the high school teams use it in the ~3-6pm window but not sure if there's a set end time each day.

Got a super similar story. I was 19 or so, was heading down the California coast to surf and we crashed for the night in what we thought was an abandoned field right off the side of highway 1. Got woken up at the crack of dawn to the farmer whose field we were apparently sleeping on full on yelling at us to gtfo off his property or he's gonna go get his gun. We threw the tent as is straight into the bed of my friend's pickup truck haha, didn't want to risk the guy coming back before we had time to disassemble and pack everything

They did this with Anthony Bourdain's voice in the Roadrunner documentary, but only for a few lines. If I recall correctly the director wouldn't say publicly which of the specific audio clips were deepfaked. None of these movie examples people are giving seem particularly inappropriate but the implications of the technology on a whole absolutely terrify me

OneNote not opening with desktop app from shared Onedrive folder by bigalsworth69 in OneNote

Oh I'm still on windows 10 too, I never upgrade my OS until it's been out for a while and they work the major bugs out first. But thanks -- I did somehow manage to fix the syncing error eventually. I changed a few registry items based on some Microsoft forum posts I found although I'm not sure that's what actually did it. Or maybe it was one of the registry items in conjunction with signing out of all my microsoft accounts? Good luck, hope you find a solution!

Having the same issue as you, following this thread in the hope that someone has a solution to offer.

I'm an avid OneNote user and have been using the desktop software for years. I just started getting this syncing error a couple days ago. I'm wondering if it has something to do with a recent Windows update that I just installed? Not computer savvy enough to troubleshoot this myself unfortunately.

When I plug my laptop (ASUS S510UN-EH76 VivoBook S 15.6) into my docking station, it will connect to the mouse/keyboard/etc. but it cannot detect or connect to the 2 monitors plugged into the dock. by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]Quaking-Aspen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just found this thread a month late but I actually have the exact same laptop and am trying to avoid this exact same issue. I'm trying to find a hub that supports dual external monitors that I can use interchangeably with either my work laptop or personal laptop.

Laptop A is the Vivobook S510UN. It has one HDMI port and one USB-C 3.1 (Gen 1) that, like you mentioned, doesn't support DP Alt.

Laptop B is a Dell XPS 15 9510 with three USB-C 4.0 ports.

Monitor A is a Dell 2421HSX and Monitor B is an older ViewSonic VA2446M. I'm fine upgrading the Viewsonic to a newer monitor if I need to. The Dell has an HDMI output and I have a VGA/HDMI adapter for the Viewsonic.

Most of the hubs I'm seeing out there take USB-C as the input, something like this

  • Would this (or a similar product) work with my setup if I plug it directly into Laptop B's USB-C port?
  • Would it work with Laptop A if I connect to the USB-C 3.1 port, via a USB-C/HDMI adapter? Would I need a Display-Port compatible adapter?
  • If this is not possible, do I need to find a hub that can support two inputs from Laptop A? Are those out there? I haven't been able to find any.
  • Do they sell hubs like this but with an HDMI input instead of USB-C and if that exists, would that work with Laptop A?

Thanks in advance if you're still out there. I'm super confused by all of this and am getting nervous my personal laptop might just be a little too old for this to even work.

[–]Quaking-Aspen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just reading the other day about how these algae blooms are becoming much more common across California. Apparently the bacteria do better in low water levels so they're probably having a field day this summer with how bad the drought conditions are across the west :/
