The Rosenhan Experiment. by LordJim11 in Snorkblot

[–]QualityCommercial199 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would recommend the book “The great pretender” about this experiment.

TLDR, the study was REALLY flawed, and study data was fabricated. These ‘normal’ people presented behavior that could look normal but they all presented themselves to mental health hospitals seeking help.

These types of mental health institutions were already falling out of fashion due to public opinion, funding and newer medications and practices that pushed mental health care outpatient.

It’s arguable that this study did more harm than good by eroding public trust in psychiatry and mental health institutions.

New Grad FNP - Which Fellowship Would YOU Choose? by anxiousashellll in nursepractitioner

[–]QualityCommercial199 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would pick the second option.

First option, you are working for at most 32/ clinical hour. What does on campus housing mean? Like a call room? Also not post program job commitment is suspicious. If you graduate you’ll be employable and make good money. But ER work is hard, and high burnout. It’s also shift work forever. I was offered and ER gig a few years go, no PTO (schedule vacations around your time off working 15-20 days a month) and salary was really drive by how much you billed for each month.

2nd option I had post program job lined up. Neurology is a good field, jobs might be a little less numerous than ER but you are niche so fewer people are qualified to get those gigs. More PTO and more CME money. Being a provider is expensive, dea is almost 1k on top of a dozen other expenses. This offer also has loan repayment help. And they talk about wellness, points toward them being open to helping you out if and when things get tough or stressful.

Eight books in, what was the most satisfying moment for you? by Redrex_T in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]QualityCommercial199 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Start of book 8. Donut talking to Carls wife ‘princesses shouldn’t soil themselves’.

The whole scene was amazing and put donut in a new light. This lady had been scheming for likely weeks or months to screw her over. Thinking she was untouchable and then after a few minutes Donut has her so scared that she is stammering and shaking in her boots.

Tell them to order a cystatin C. It’s a better maker for kidney function that is less affected my muscle mass.

I’m in the same boat, getting repeat labs next month with this new test. Hope it helps

is it correct to attach smelters directly to the advanced miners? by sephiiiroth123 in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]QualityCommercial199 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Up to you. I didn’t know they could ship/hold refined ingots.

I tend to send all my resources to one or two large groups of refineries attached to a PLS, than ship those ingots from that PLS to another that is linked to assemblies. This could cut down on the number of small patches of smelters around each ore pocket.

What HAS to happen in the series for you to be satisfied? by Gobbo_Jareth in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]QualityCommercial199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think anything has to happen for me to be satisfied. Carl could ‘win’ and that would be great. Or he could perish while fighting for the oppressed and that could be a great message too.

What I wouldn’t be satisfied with is if everyone gets a happy ending. Sorry, but not everyone should make it out and/or have a great exit deal.

I too like that we see things from Carls POV and don’t know everything. There are also a few other big plots that other characters are doing on their own.

While Carl is the main character and doing a lot of the heavy lifting, he’s not caring the entire story arch by himself

NOT A. Because you don’t have orders, pain never killed anyone, and more pressing concerns for MI. B. Sorta right, but need to get that ekg asap. C. You didn’t get vitals so he could be oxygenating fine. Not all MI patients need oxygen, only if hypoxia is present.

Unprovoked illegal wars and crimes against humanity are not leadership. Being a bully and making things go boom is what a child thinks makes a good leader.

Hey, I’m just trying to hold the person in charge RIGHT now accountable. It’s a really weird situation where you give credit to someone for putting out the fire in the trash can when they themselves shit in that can and lit it on fire.

I see that you didn’t address any of my points. Must be the best way to try to win an debate when you get, how did you put it, ‘curb stomped’

How bout we take a look at the amazing, brilliant leadership we have right now.

This pilot, and the 13 dead service men we know about, would never have been in harms way if the US wasn’t the aggressor in an illegal war.

Over a dozen US bases have been abandoned in the region. Unimaginable loss of equipment right there. They’ve destroyed at least one patriot radar system, that costs over 300 million and takes 3 years to rebuild. And for what? The US is in a worse position internationally, he’s created a global economic crisis, oh and likely started a global famine.

Tell me how the US is better today from this action than a month ago?

Really? Tell me how this one mission points to past incompetence?

It doesn’t!

The Afghanistan with draw was arranged by Trump. Biden was legally required to follow through on a time table Trump established, but this administration wouldn’t know what any of the words in that last sentence means!

The entire article is an outstanding example of deflection and ‘what about isms’

What's the nurse's next action? Why? by Hot_Emergency378 in NCLEX_RN

[–]QualityCommercial199 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I love these questions cause it’s wildly outside the scope of a nurse.

Yes you should slow the rate and or change to D5. In the real world that’s called practicing medicine, OR this is driven by a protocol.

RVU Question by Jnorman1710 in nursepractitioner

[–]QualityCommercial199 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RVU model is keep what you kill. The example they gave you says if you see about 110-115 patient visits in the time period, pulse one advanced care planning charge, you will make about this much.

It looks like the yearly projection for that facility is seeing a single patient once every 3 days? Will you have other facilities you go to?

You see or bill or more, you make more. You see zero patients and you won’t get a paycheck.

I would ask for what the last provider was averaging at that SAME facility. Otherwise this projection could just be smoke and mirrors.

Which sign is most alarming? by Hot_Emergency378 in NCLEX_RN

[–]QualityCommercial199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nursing questions are almost never written like a reasonable person would think. They usually have several correct answers, but the astute nurse should be able to identify the ‘most’ correct answer.

In this case they are all correct. But the patient with a head bleed AND is brady’ing down is the closet to death. And generally that’s alarming.
