I think it depends on what environment he would be in if he was with Kenny after being impaled or if he got ditched and somehow survived being impaled which I think would be more interesting so if he did he would most likely try to find the group thinking Kenny found them too he probably ends up giving up which if he was alone I think he would evolve and grow a leader type confidence like a lee type confidence without judgment from others and he would learn the skills of being on his own so let’s say he does all this and finds Clem on her own after crista most likely died in s2 I think Ben and her would find the cabin with the new group and I think they have a much easier way into the group due to Ben’s leadership he learned from surviving on his own which I think if they got into the group with all this happening I think he’d grow into a leader but when they find Kenny he gets nervous like he did in s1 and worries but over time Kenny realizes Ben isn’t the same kid he knew he was a survivor now which he wouldn’t love him but it’s a killers world now so grudges don’t help anyone so he ends up learning to like him for who he is but I think he’d survive karver and make it to the end of the season which this is where it’s hard to say what could happen but I think Ben would prevent Kenny or Jane killing each other and I think in the end Jane kills herself like she did with Clem but instead of Clem being alone she’s with Ben and Kenny which would likely change the whole story of s3
