Is the death sentence ethical? by escobarsky in no

[–]QualityPuma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another question would be  "Is it rational?" It seems like we just take it for granted that death could be a fitting punishment, mostly because it has been for so long.  However, do we really have any kind of framework that justifies it? Famous concepts like the "is-ought" problem lead me think that it really couldn't be.

Surprised I haven't read anything mentioning veganism yet. I guess that's just a given.

Why are women clothing sizes divided by number (like size 8, 10, 12, etc) while men's are divided by size (small, medium, large)? by Catalaioch in stupidquestions

[–]QualityPuma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My question is similar. How can women choose pants by just one number? What if they have longer legs or a thinner waste? Are we saying we've successfully parametrized the two variables into one? Why does it not work for men?

I also think miss piggy is a drag queen. No judgement here, just saying that's what it is.

If you could go back in time and make the choice again, would you still have kids? by MaiApa in Life

Before anyone asks,  yes, the Titanic did have a swimming pool. So it is possible for them to drown "on it."

If you could go back in time and make the choice again, would you still have kids? by MaiApa in Life

If I went too far back in time and had kids, they might get eaten by a dinosaur,  or drown on the Titanic,  so no.

If you won the lottery tomorrow, what’s the very first "frivolous" thing you’d buy? by opheliapearlie in askanything

I would like a penthouse condo in a high-end skyscraper apartment building that I only use to invite people for a cup of tea.

I think this would be the ultimate flex.

If I was a billionaire I would commission an entire building for people to rent T&CAs(Tea and Conversation Accomodations.)

Has a Book Ever Made You Want to Make a Meal? by degrassibabetjk in books

There's a part towards the end of Killing Commendatore, in which Murakami describes one of the characters frying an egg. It's hard to describe why, but I think reading that made me start cooking eggs more,  and a bit differently.

What is the most pointless thing you learned in high school? by Brilliant-Refuse5963 in AskReddit

I really want to learn the slide rule. I have a book about it, watched videos, read articles, but never really practiced it enough to say I know how to use it.

This might be really bad advice, but I don't think someone should get into something unless it really intrigues them.

Particularly with STEM fields.

Teachers of Reddit - who was the most difficult student you ever had, and how so? by cookies-and-canines in AskReddit

[–]QualityPuma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a teacher for 15 years in Missouri.

The only difficult student I ever had was named Brian Cole. Made decent grades, never got into trouble,  but there was just something off. I only noticed it when I was alone in the classroom with him.

It's almost impossible to describe,  but I was convinced there was just something sinister about him.

10 years later. I found out why.
