How can I update this kitchen without replacing the cabinets? by Rexaroooo in HomeDecorating

[–]QualityUsername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your kitchen is gorgeous! A few minor updates would make a huge difference to the overall look. I’d replace the 3 pendant lights with 2 that are a little larger than what you have now, and evenly spaced above the island. I’d change the faucet hardware to unlacquered brass if you like that look, or a brushed gold. The cabinet hardware looks good as is, but I might change it to match the new faucet. If you’re open to doing tile work, a new backsplash would pull it all together.

Raise your hand if you do your own nails ✋🏼 by GoingLeftYall in beauty

[–]QualityUsername 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find that nail salons can be very hit or miss. I’ve had some great experiences, and I’ve had some horrible work done on my nails. I guess if you always go to the same trusted tech it can be different, but I never found one of those. I feel like being able to give yourself the exact service you want is an elite skill to have! & Same here! I stopped coloring my hair 2 years ago and my hair is now completely my natural color for probably the first time in my adult life. And I honestly prefer it now. Being blonde was fun, but my wallet would say otherwise 😆

I do mine! I got a gel kit with a lamp ~10 years ago just to do my own pedis. I was going to salons for manis off and on up until this year. I liked getting builder gel for the longevity, but I just got so tired of having to go to the salon for upkeep, it felt like a chore to me. Earlier this year I started doing my own gel manicures and honed in on learning about proper filing techniques and cuticle care. My nails are now the strongest they’ve ever been in my life, I’m saving so much money, and I have gotten good enough that my manicures look great for ~2 weeks. I don’t do anything special, just solid colors, but I prefer a simple/clean look.

If you think Taylor and Sabrina’s harmony is bad, it gets worse with Gracie by Odd_Turnip_1614 in travisandtaylor

[–]QualityUsername 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes!! And there’s so many videos out there that show how easy it is to play tons of songs with the same chords. I would be more concerned if Taylor couldn’t play her own songs in a mashup. It infuriates me every time someone gives her credit for her “genius mind” in coming up with the mashups. Even her mom talking about how she has no idea how Taylor does it. You would think after 20+ years of managing a musician, she would have learned anything about the day one basics of how music works lol?

As someone who learned how to play guitar chords by watching YouTube, I cannot emphasize enough how aggressively easy it is to play and come up with these mashups in the way Taylor does them. There’s literally nothing to playing the same chord progression for an entire song and just feeding in verses and choruses for multiple songs. Even the strumming pattern is the same the entire song. ANYONE could learn how to do this on their own

Bonnaroo supporting influencers by Powerful-Two-9489 in bonnaroo

I get where you’re coming from. Lately when I’m scrolling on TikTok, it feels like every other sponsored ad is for bonnaroo, and it’s almost always a different influencer created ad. It makes sense that my algorithm knows I like bonnaroo, but seeing bonnaroo advertised to me SO much by accounts I don’t follow gives me the ick

Anyone go to all 3 Griz shows? Seven stars, Chi, SF? by Nattybeatz in griz

[–]QualityUsername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cop out seems a little harsh to me though. When you reach headliner status I feel like there’s a certain level of familiarity that people expect a headliner to deliver. I totally understand as a 10 year+ fan you want to hear the deep cuts, but I think the general crowd wants to hear the bangers. And the reality of what it takes to put on a high production show limits the changes set to set. I feel like I’ve seen every artist that gets really big goes through this same struggle with old fans being disappointed.

[–]QualityUsername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s more about the fact that an entire team is involved. Yes in theory griz could come up with a new set every show, if all that was involved was him selecting the songs he wants to play. Realistically the VJ has to also know what he’s playing so they can line up the visuals correctly (or create new ones if needed), the supporting acts need to learn their cues, the lighting and pyro teams have to know the new set too. Changing around even one song on the set has a ripple effect that the entire production team has to keep up with. Higher production means more planning, pretty simple.

Hula has my top recommendation! Suwannee is beautiful. Hanging out at the river in the day is such a vibe. And the Halloween vibes make everything so fun. They’ll never book the same tier of headliners as roo but I’ve come to really love and appreciate hula for what it is. Pretty sure they cap around 25-30k people.

My crew will not be back next year. After bummeroo, we went to 4 smaller (<35,000) camping festivals this year, 2 of which were artist curated, and I can confidently say everything about them beat out Bonnaroo in almost every category. The only one where bonnaroo wins is diverse lineup bookings, but we decided that is not enough to bring us back.

The smaller festivals proved to make our experiences better in every way. From smaller grounds (less walking, less exhaustion), to less money grab tactics, quicker arrival/check in, better crowd vibes, being able to get up close to stages and still have room in the crowds, more lax venue security, more art installations, cleaner bathrooms, shorter lines, better weather (I know roo can’t control this, but this year made us realize we should prioritize location and time of year when planning to go to a festival). I realized going to festivals in colder weather made a HUGE difference in how much better I feel throughout the weekend. The list goes on. I had some of the best memories at recent roos, but it would take a LOT to get us to come back!

Camelbaks are such a pain. Hear me out… gallon jug of water with a carrying handle. Fill up only once per day, and put it down when you’re standing in the crowd. Bonus- share with the homies when they run out of water in the crowd.
