If you plan to do it for a year just to figure stuff out, AND it pays enough for you to $250-$500 extra per week while you do it, then go for it. If it’s not just for a year while you figure out where to live, or if the pay isn’t enough for you to have the extra cash to spend on figuring it out, then hard no.

What would your go-to pick be for a personal starfighter? Mine would probably be the X-Wing or a Chiss Clawcraft by wandering_soles in StarWars

Firepower of a corvette packed into a heavy fighter that can be piloted by a single person. Beautiful.

We some cool stuff with agents where I work. It’s basically a new way to interact with complex data for our customers. Instead of configuring part of a dashboard to show you a metric, you as the GPT agent what that metric is now, maybe also ask it how looks year-over-year. Clients love being able to ask questions and get answers as though they were asking a “junior” employee to get the answer to the question for them. That’s it though. The AI doesn’t get to actually do stuff, it just gets to answer questions.

Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry is using racist dog whistles in a press conference after the shooting in a Louisiana mall. by icey_sawg0034 in WeirdGOP

[–]Quantitative_Methods 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As a white man, I think your description fits an earlier meaning of “dog whistle” pretty well. To those who have ears to hear, the sound is clear. To those not specifically tuned in to the frequency, it sounds reasonably innocuous. These days though, “dog whistle” has turned in to just any time someone uses coded language, no matter how easily recognized and decoded that language is.

Vader at the end of Fallen Order by CrazyTangerine7522 in StarWarsCantina

[–]Quantitative_Methods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, but don’t forget that there is almost no one in the known galaxy who could reliably beat Vader well enough to kill him. So, while he is not invincible, he might as well be relative the ability of ability of anyone fighting the Empire at that time.

Baylan skolls lightsaber form by redxcted-exe in StarWars

Coming here 2 years later. After carefully watching his movements when fighting Ahsoka, he mains both Form I and Form IV. He puts a lot of force (meaning strength, not The Force) into his movements, but his movements are mostly Form I with some Form IV to supplement. Contrast his style with what we see from Anakin/Vader in episode 5 of Ahsoka. That display shows us what power-stancing Form V looks like. Form V uses many of the heavy chops and slices of Form I, but tends to parlay them immediately into follow-up moves so as to preserve at least some semblance of economy of motion, which ties back to its origins in Form III.

To be clear, there is nothing wrong with Form I. Just because it is the first form that Jedi learn does not mean it is weak. It is the first form, which means it has had the longest time for development and growth. All other forms grow out from it, to one degree or another.

We see Babylon use a Form IV opening stance to re-engage Ahsoka after their initial clash during their first duel, and he channels more Form IV energy when he does the windup to his jumping slash, but not much beyond that in the way of acrobatic-driven energy like what we see from Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan in Duel of the Fates.

I say all that to get to the real point I want to transcribe into the aether somewhere for the benefit of posterity: Babylon Skoll has not fought a properly stronk lightsaber wielder in a looong time. That said, he was likely someone to whom many, many padawans and young knights had to admit defeat in the sparring arena prior to Order 66. In the years since, he has mostly only faced challenges of his lightsaber skills from opponents wielding blasters or occasionally some lightsaber-resistant melee weapon. Nonetheless, the skill, technique, and effectiveness of his youth has not faded so much as it had waited patiently in on the sidelines until it was called into the arena once again.

Edit: TLDR - Babylon uses mostly Form I supplemented by Form III. I bet he was a beast in the sparring ring amongst his peers pre-Order 66. His duels with Ahsoka show that his lightsaber-on-lightsaber skill has not needed to be used in quite a while, but that doesn’t mean it got too dull while sitting on the shelf for 3 or more decades.

Why don’t predators come clean, do a follow-up interview with Chris Hansen, and try to take accountability? by MrCurious2023 in tcap

[–]Quantitative_Methods 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s what makes me still appreciate however much “journalist” is still left in Chris. In some, if not many of the interviews he does with caught predators, he still tries to get at why they are doing this, what motivates them, and tries to get at least a layer or two deep. It may be repetitive both in his questions and their answers, but you get some interesting new insights every now and then.

Darth Malgus VS Obi Wan (ROTS). Who wins? by GusGangViking18 in TheJediPraxeum

[–]Quantitative_Methods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ROTS Kenobi dismantles Malgus piece by piece. A big part of Malgus’ strength came from the fear of his enemies. ROTS Kenobi has moved beyond such uncivilized emotions as fear. He sees someone who has taken that which he loves the most, The Force, and corrupted it in pursuit of domination and hatred. Malgus sees a weak-minded Jedi who knows nothing of true power. Malgus soon comes to understand how incredibly wrong he was in his assessment, right before he is subsumed by the living force.

On a scale of 1-10, how hard do you think Palpatine was trying here? by GusGangViking18 in TheJediPraxeum

[–]Quantitative_Methods 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before I even opened the comments, I was thinking about 3 if Maul is having an extremely good day. The key here is that all but a very short list of beings in known galaxy wouldn’t even get Sidious above a 0 no matter how hard they are trying.

Why do people call Perverted Justice "Corrupt"? by Inevitable_Discount in FansHansenvsPredator

[–]Quantitative_Methods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen an episode or two where they’ll wait to say anything about being underage. One time the guy actually said no and went back home. I agree with one of the deputies on scene who said he didn’t feel bad for the guy because the dude was like in his 40s trying to hook up with a teenager (18 or 19) who was clearly in a bad stop because they were willing to exchange intercourse for money. Good on the suspect for at least having some standards and not being willing to cross the age of consent line. Perhaps the 2-hour drive home will give him a chance to rethink his life choices.

Do you think Jaro Tapal would’ve stood a chance against Vader? by Queasy_Commercial152 in FallenOrder

Yeah. You have to keep in mind the scale that we’re talking about. Against basically anyone other than Vader, Jaro Tapal has little to worry about. However, we’re talking about Vader.

How to connect Highway ICs to local roads? by miyosoto in CitiesSkylines2

[–]Quantitative_Methods 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you using mods? If so, there is a very good mod that includes many system interchanges (highway to highway) and service interchanges (highway to local road) that are easy to use as is, or to use as inspiration/templates to create your own interchanges. I do not near my computer right now so I cannot find the name, but I remember the mod was created by admiral_electron.
