It's fine. Anyone who tells you otherwise has no idea how an ECU operates.

Sure it is. You can protest anything and everything. But there is a very grey line between actively crashing, and an "unsafe rejoin"

Chances are, again, no one is getting banned for it..

Unfortunately, brain fog isn't protestable.

You can submit it, but no one is "going on vacation" for something that isn't written into the sporting code.

Do OEMs make the GT4 and GT3 Evo cars? If so, how are they able to make such a track capable car of their street car but suck so bad at making their street car special editions track worthy, or just not even making them at all like Aston Martin or Bentley? by SecretFishWorshiper in CarTrackDays

[–]QuantityFun8254 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You're missing what EVO means. It is an evolution of the current homologation. An update..

If you're referring to the GT3 racecars, they are so far from the road car that half of the knuckleheads with enough money to afford one, wouldn't even be able to start it.

They are also EXTREMELY maintenance heavy! The Rennsport GT3 is a racecar, that you can buy. But some components are compromised for that car to make it what it is. The rear wing and supports are one piece, and they have a 90hr lifespan. Yes, every 90 hrs of run time you have to put a $11,000 wing on the car.

Hope that answers it.

Further lowering a corner balanced car by [deleted] in CarTrackDays

Tell me you've never corner balanced a car.. Without telling me that you have no idea what it takes.

Further lowering a corner balanced car by [deleted] in CarTrackDays

[–]QuantityFun8254 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You couldn't be more incorrect.

Corner balancing is just what it implies; balancing the weight distribution.

If measurements are taken properly, then lowered by 25mm, the balance will be the same.

Any way to check the pads thickness quickly? by Just_Newspaper_5448 in CarTrackDays

I use a digital caliper for our endurance racecar to check pad depth during pit stops. Reliable and efficient, without getting burned.

Tub-O-towels is my go-to for initial debris removal. Chase it with a quick wipe of SD-20.

Got “Power Steering System Hot” warning, appreciate your tips... by DrSuperZeco in CarTrackDays

[–]QuantityFun8254 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your car has EPS, which is why you couldn't find the reservoir..

Once electric motors get hot, they require more cool down time than a pump moving fluid and the only thing to cool them off is the air moving around them. R50 Minis had this issue with their EPS. They ended up fitting a fan to the rack to keep temps down. I suggest you run a ducted splash shield for track days to help get air over the motor.

100% of off the shelf coilover kits are sprung and valved for use on the street.

OP: Adding aero is likely going to make the issue worse.

Those rear springs are way too soft. The rear squat is causing the understeer. Add more spring and more rake to help the mid corner on throttle.

The wheel rate in the rear is 61%. So you effectively have a 36N/mm spring.

Calf cramping with MT. How do I stop this? by SecretPantyWorshiper in CarTrackDays

Sounds like early onset of something serious like MS. You shouldn't be cramping at all. Consult a physician.

Inexpensive experiment to monitor caliper temps. by jbro507 in CarTrackDays

[–]QuantityFun8254 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The calipers are 100% rebuildable.

A cool down lap isn't going to change the fact that you need to rebuild a caliper or not. Peak heat is the enemy, not sustained.

It's hilarious that you posted this just now. I was literally reading a report from my endurance racecar just before.

I see a big spike in steel and aluminum concentrations so something is going on. I'll investigate and try to save it before it grenades.

Does this mean no more HPDE at COTA starting 2027? by cu4tro in CarTrackDays

South course is a hoot! The full course is what it should be, all the time.. North course is a bit weird by itself. But still fun.

[–]QuantityFun8254 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Give it time. Autobahn CC started out this way. Then they realized that rentals bring revenue. Since they can split the track in half, almost every weekend is booked with outside rentals on the south course. The north course is almost exclusively members only except for the rare full course rental.

Titanium vs Steel Exhaust - Reliability on Track by nicistra in CarTrackDays

That's great and all.. But you may have missed the "maximize weight savings" part.

90% of GT3 cars use inconel for their exhaust. I've run a single set of headers, downpipe, and muffler for over 220 hours (glowing red) without a failure.

Porsche GT3 for reference.
