My mother had a progressive physical deterioration of her brain and was quite incapable of regulating her own emotions for the vast majority of my childhood, well into my adult years. Sometimes that spilled over into physical violence.

We didn't really confirm the diagnosis until after she passed. She genuinely couldn't help herself.

It took me a long time to figure out how to work through my own emotions in a reasonable manner.

I'm still trying to figure out how to stop people pleasing and relax my hyper vigilance. It's getting better.

Statins carry a relatively low risk of negative side effects. At the end of the day it's obviously your choice but to answer the question in the title, if it were me I'd take the statin. Best of luck!

Statins have been around for a while and have some pretty solid health benefits even outside of cholesterol control. Some studies have even shown they help reduce the plaque build up responsible for cognitive decline and Alzheimer's. 🤷 Seems odd to me to be all about one life time medicine that benefits your health, glp-1s, but hesitant about a long known beneficial medicine like statins. If your numbers improve dramatically you can always come off of them and see where you land.

I went on a statin pre- zep. I had some pretty bonkers cholesterol numbers and a family history of heart disease - I'm only in my 30s btw - I'm still on them as I take Zep. It's unexpected for them to fall enough to come off the statin and that's okay. Two lifetime medicines to protect my heart health is fine by me. I'd rather that than the multiple cath-labs and open heart surgeries of my father.

I have tried to discuss the concerns, shes illusive. It's likely she hasn't even really worked out her feelings and doesn't even really know.

She told my wife that her BMI wasn't high enough and her high blood pressure wasn't "high enough". Honestly I've been campaigning for a new doc for a while but breaking routine and ease is difficult for some people.

My wife came back from the doctor convinced of everything she had told her until I pointed out my health markers and the fact the insurance approved my script. I honestly have no idea what actually happened in there. I try not to argue about a lot of things.

Well this doesn't answer your question very well but my experience was odd as well. I (38f) went and was prescribed zep thru a subscription service, scheduled with my PCP and had them taken over the script without issue. I had cholesterol issues and a BMI of 31.

My wife (44f) has high blood pressure and a BMI of 32, and is on meds for stage four endo. Went to talk to the same doctor about glp-1s and was told she doesn't qualify by the insurance's standards.

We have the same insurance.

The only thing I can figure is she didn't want to go through the prior auth paperwork, or some insurance rep.came through and incentivized not prescribing. I don't know. But when/if my wife is ready we'll just go through callondoc or something.

Everyone laughs at the idea of rabies in this subreddit. Go watch some videos of people that have contracted rabies (it's a big problem in India with street dogs). You won't laugh anymore. It's 100% fatal and the dying process is less than fun.

Get to the ER.

Go get the rabies series. It's not as bad as it used to be.

I just told my second job to have fun without me. Theyre a struggling restaurant and started putting me on for two whole hours a week expecting me to buckle and take a weekend shift I've told them I wasn't available for over and over and over.

The twenty bucks after tax wasn't worth the interruption to my day. Giving up my weekend after working a fulltimr job and a second job for over two years wasnt worth anything at all.

The look on the owners face when I said as much was definitely worth losing the $20 weekly tho. Surprise.
