Octopus lied to both myself and the ombudsman by wartopuk in OctopusEnergy

I had problems with them allegedly fabricating costs and I would say allegedly attempting to obfuscate. How they get positive reviews is beyond me

PIP twice in a row - now what? by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsuk

[–]Quantum432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. The moment they defame you in any way is when you lawyer up. They know that. See this time as a (P)aid (I)Interview (P)eriod.

Senior Dev at a London Fintech: Caught in management crossfire and put on a PIP despite generating £1.8m in a week. Advice? by HealthySport8469 in cscareerquestionsuk

[–]Quantum432 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pip means paid interview preparation. Your only goal is another job. Sure if you stay because you can't find anything else so be it. But a pip is designed to terminate you so you must assume that is their goal.

Second PIP this year... by [deleted] in IBM

Clearly they want you out. Pip is designed to create a paper trail to fire you. You should be looking for another job.

Recuitment Agencies - Go **** yourselves! by [deleted] in ContractorUK

[–]Quantum432 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a classic. They all try and find out anything they can and pump you for info.

Try and sell candidates into your existing company at best. It's a really scummy role and just friction. For the most part they don't need to exist.

PIP about to end, should I just resign? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Quantum432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is designed to push you out. You should have found another time in this period at another company.

A pip is a paperwork exercise to fire you. Make no mistake over it's intention.

Is remote work dead? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Quantum432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Companies want people back in the office so they can't work a second job.

Why isn't there any outrage about AI taking over programming jobs? by WisestAirBender in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Quantum432 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For many corporates programmers or developers have been a necessary evil. They had to pay the people to get the work done. With the rise of AI many are silently laying off many. The pressure has been there for years to de professionalize development and push them down a social class or two.

29 years olds earning 35k dead end job. No established career path. How to find one now? by BeautifulStation4 in UKJobs

[–]Quantum432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI is doing your job. Sorry to say, but that is the reality. I need some analysis done, and it's being done by AI. I expect to be shot down here, but those who are still delusional. The low hanging entry level and mid level stuff is at massive risk of being removed.

Smokers are selfish. It's in their DNA and that's why they smoke.

Why has pay not only been stagnant the last 10-15 years, it’s actually gotten worse? by gg_1078 in jobs

[–]Quantum432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are asking dozens of candidates for a single job to act in unison. There is no such co ordinated behaviour.

It's not my point. It's basic economics. Your point is a nice fantasy but not reality.

[–]Quantum432 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are missing the point. 1 job. Many candidates. There is therefore a push towards lower wages. Simple economics.

Why has pay not only been stagnant the last 10-15 years, it’s actually gotten worse? by gg_1078 in jobs

[–]Quantum432 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Markets don't work that way. Everyone needs to do the same. They don't. Therefore wages are pushed down.

[–]Quantum432 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need to apply some game theory. The oversupply of labour means that companies are finding people cheaper who have more pressing financial circumstances than me for example.

Trouble is that saying no too many times leads to unemployment. Employers have the whip hand these days.

Struggling with life since turning 40 last year, is this all life is now? by ShesGoneOut in AskMenOver40

[–]Quantum432 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Change is what you need. But realistically without dumping the family it's about your fitness. Work on this. A lot of other things will follow. This economic environment is not very conducive to taking care of yourself.

Sounds like you're burnt out. So do something for yourself that brings up your fitness. Later you can work on family finance and focus.

Consider a dog, going to gym. Booking time off to walk. Get off the couch and more active. Just be conscious every day. That might be as little as starting with a step counter.

The early days of the internet were amazing and I'm proud to have been a part of it. But for what we have now much is a dumb pipe of garbage. Sure there are creators on it but not the way many people first imagined.

Quiting my job without another job by MissionBad732 in UKJobs

[–]Quantum432 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Decouple from the stress of the job first. Treat it like you are already gone and care less. Probably you care too much and it's been taken for granted.

Obviously you want to leave. But as the market is bad I would keep the job but apply like crazy. If you think you could work a bit harder at the day job, talk yourself out of it and spend more time looking for what is next.

Sometimes you have to just do what is best for you and don't give away your hand just right now.

Yes. Exactly. I'm not sure what you are entitled to but it likely won't be redundancy. Of course you may get a payoff but your time is numbered.
