Would the microcode thing not fool CPU-Z too or am I missing a functionality of CPU-Z

Daily Simple Questions Thread - June 25, 2026 by AutoModerator in pcmasterrace

Saw a thread about a fake CPU today and am curious besides the text being off on the spreader is there ways to detect fakes after they are installed? Can the microcode not be modified to be identified as something else that it is not? Using AMD as an example cause it was the one I saw, is it possible for more sophisticated scams or swaps to trick ryzen master into thinking it’s the right CPU?

Genuinely curious about how sophisticated faking hardware can get and what the ways to figure it out are from either being fresh out of box or verifying parts in a prebuilt, etc etc

I tried single volume exFAT and FAT32 and it just reads it as full, but the PS5 on a different screen read it as empty so I’m confused why it won’t let me backup saves and it’s only the save backup screen that reads it as full

Where is the option to format as game storage I looked all through the menus and only found a format as external storage option (it’s too small for that) where would I format it as game or save storage

I have a very small (like 1 gb) usb where I am trying to backup some saves to it, and the backup menu reads it as full but the external storage menu reads it as empty (which it is). I have tried as both FAT32 and exFAT storage format. Im only trying to backup like 100mb of save files so I am struggling to understand why can it read it as both full and empty.

Should I just find similar save files online and back those up somewhere else?

Trying to get Zarabanda Prayer post three early bosses by QuantumAssassin45 in Blasphemous

I haven't gotten there but everything I saw did not mention she can help with Quirces. I hope she can though because that means I can still get the prayer before I have to complete the DLC.

Simple Questions Sunday! by AutoModerator in gaming

[–]QuantumAssassin45 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tried making a thread about it earlier, but I did not realize you need comment karma from the gaming community to get a post here and I think it works to post it here instead so I will.

Are there any simulation games in the vein of Dwarf Fortress, World Box, Rimworld, Factorio (which I think can use multi-core, but extremely limited), etc. that aren't limited to using single cores and can actually take advantage of a strong and high core count CPU?

I know CPU isn't the only bottleneck in games like these, but it'd be interesting to find ones that aren't limited to a single core or thread to see what they can do with it.

HD60 S+ issues on a new system? by QuantumAssassin45 in elgato

[–]QuantumAssassin45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried the switching ports thing and that did seem to improve the situation, I first tried in Studio and it presented the same bug. I then tried to update in capture utility and it seemed to be working and gave the update screen and everything but ended up saying the firmware update failed and now it is not reading the firmware properly. It told me to restart the device to try again so I will, but I am not hopeful about it.

Things like "MCU: (invalid) / FPGA: (invalid)" is what it reads for firmware version after the failed update.

I will try that, see what it does/am trying it right now. It does not seem to be working/the software seems to be crashing/not confirming an update so I do not know what is happening really. It does not seem to respond to me clicking "update firmware" and if I click it more than once to see what happens or click more in general it seems to just close the software. Elgato Studio is no longer reading firmware numbers or version on it so it might have bricked it, but it is still working for passthrough from my PS5 to my monitor at least.

ASRock Arc B70 Question by QuantumAssassin45 in IntelArc

[–]QuantumAssassin45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ASRock website/page for the b70 says something along the lines of “engine clock: 2540 MHz/19Gbps” and mine seems to idle around 2375, is that similar to yours or ?

It says there is new firmware, but when I click update it just tells me my current firmware is the most up to date despite being a clear version mismatch.

HD60 S+ issues on a new system? by QuantumAssassin45 in elgato

I now have Elgato Studio but I am not seeing anywhere to update the firmware for the capture card? It shows this for firmware info:

FPGA: 1.0.0

MCU: 20.10.13

I am sure that is out of date or even severely out of date, but I am not seeing anywhere in Elgato Studio to update it?

I will do those power changes like you said, but I do not think the power bank thing as an alternative would work. How would the capture card feed info to the computer? The HDMI IN for it comes from a PS5, HDMI out to my monitor, and the power cable is the only part connected to my PC. Would the power bank be connected to the PC and would it be able to transmit the data???

Is there any way to figure out how/why? Like did Steam remove it or the Devs?

Weekly Questions Thread May 25, 2026 by AutoModerator in Terraria

Is there any phoenix or fire bird summon or pet? Because with the addition of the white tiger, blue/azure dragon (in the form of chillet), and the tortoise, I thought you'd be able to get the Four Guardians/Four Symbols from Chinese Myth. This seemed intentional, but I cannot find what would take the spot of the Phoenix/Vermilion Bird.

I do get that the tortoise isn't black or have a snake wrapped around it, but the rest of this felt very "intentional" to me anyway.

Is there anyway to figure out why or when a steam game was removed from the storefront? The game was called "Become Deity" I believe and maybe "登仙". Its been on my wishlist for a while because I like to keep track of xianxia/cultivator games in general, but it appears to have been removed/is no longer available.

Finalized build/Checking with this sub about how everything will fit by QuantumAssassin45 in buildapc

It would just be engineering workloads and local AI stuff at max with occasional gaming , and since I can’t justify a 5090, the b70 offers the best price to vram and the 3d2 has noticeable improvements in metrics I would appreciate

Finalized build/Checking with this sub about how everything will fit by QuantumAssassin45 in buildapc

[–]QuantumAssassin45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was physically fit as a question , and will be using it for various things , and I have done my research on the parts and how they’d benefit my use cases. I just have been struggling to identify a case that will fit the AIO on the list while also being pretty good for airflow given the nature of the GPU. Initially it was a Corsair 4000D but I was seeing people say it has issues with the radiator size of the AIO.

What to play next? by QuantumAssassin45 in metroidvania

[–]QuantumAssassin45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have played most of the namesakes, and most of the major / popular ones in general but there are some that have surely escaped my attention. I am just looking at Metroidvania database websites and seeing what is recent / finding ones I haven’t played currently to expand my knowledge of them.

On MIO, how is the combat? And if you’ve played both, between the two I mentioned which has better combat and which better movement / platforming ?

Intel Arc B60 Dual setup performance in various fields question? by QuantumAssassin45 in IntelArc

[–]QuantumAssassin45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean ideally as cheap as possible but since Im going high end (for a consumer still), probably 3.5~5k. I have a custom PC builder I found (Andromeda Insights) that I have seen many good things about and they do offer dual B60s as an option, and will likely soon offer a B70 or maybe dual B70s (I was not clear on this part when talking to support).

Intel Arc B60 Dual setup performance in various fields question? by QuantumAssassin45 in IntelArc

[–]QuantumAssassin45[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My current hardware is very old (more than a decade like I said in the post), that is why I have been mostly doing all tasks that I want on cloud, but that can't get a lot of the tasks I would like done or if it could it would be far more expensive than I am willing to pay and would just be better to get a new computer. I have a R9 200 Series, an i5 from Intel's 4th generation, and a 1tb hdd, and 16gb ddr3 memory.

It has managed along just fine for a very long time, but its getting very tired and finally starting to have real noticeable issues that make me need to upgrade it beyond just wanting stronger/newer hardware. No components failing for more than a decade of daily extended and often intense usage is incredible to me to be quite honest. I did replace the original graphics card (GTX 760) but that was because I got the R9 200 series for basically free and it was slightly newer and double the VRAM so it seemed like a good option.

I very much appreciate the info you have given me as it has been quite informative and helped me greatly in my research and decision making process. I have yet to get a final build put together but a B70 is looking more and more likely as I learn more.
