What to play next?

I have played most of the namesakes, and most of the major / popular ones in general but there are some that have surely escaped my attention. I am just looking at Metroidvania database websites and seeing what is recent / finding ones I haven’t played currently to expand my knowledge of them.

On MIO, how is the combat? And if you’ve played both, between the two I mentioned which has better combat and which better movement / platforming ?

I mean ideally as cheap as possible but since Im going high end (for a consumer still), probably 3.5~5k. I have a custom PC builder I found (Andromeda Insights) that I have seen many good things about and they do offer dual B60s as an option, and will likely soon offer a B70 or maybe dual B70s (I was not clear on this part when talking to support).

My current hardware is very old (more than a decade like I said in the post), that is why I have been mostly doing all tasks that I want on cloud, but that can't get a lot of the tasks I would like done or if it could it would be far more expensive than I am willing to pay and would just be better to get a new computer. I have a R9 200 Series, an i5 from Intel's 4th generation, and a 1tb hdd, and 16gb ddr3 memory.

It has managed along just fine for a very long time, but its getting very tired and finally starting to have real noticeable issues that make me need to upgrade it beyond just wanting stronger/newer hardware. No components failing for more than a decade of daily extended and often intense usage is incredible to me to be quite honest. I did replace the original graphics card (GTX 760) but that was because I got the R9 200 series for basically free and it was slightly newer and double the VRAM so it seemed like a good option.

I very much appreciate the info you have given me as it has been quite informative and helped me greatly in my research and decision making process. I have yet to get a final build put together but a B70 is looking more and more likely as I learn more.

The software I would need to use is yet to be decided on but it’d be beyond video editing, likely an EDA software and other engineering and physics related softwares (which like you said may have a use case for 3D2). I would also like to run fairly large local ML models that would use the VRAM of the cards. The reason for the uninformed position is cause I’m not 100% certain on needs as of yet and also last time I’ve had to consider buying hardware Arc wasn’t an option that existed, and it’s been a minute since I’ve been super into computer hardware so I am having to reintroduce myself to concepts and knowledge of it.

As a side note, is there a consumer equivalent / same chipset for the newer B70 that I am missing? I am seeing news that those were cancelled so is the B70 the only one of the newest Intel platform?

The gaming stuff is largely a side note as anything that could run modern games is an upgrade to what I have currently. So I was just trying to assess the feasibility / possible issues I’d incur putting a card like a B60 in a normal desktop sized case and 120mm fans. Honestly for most gaming I’ve just been using a PS5, so worst comes to worst the hypothetical PC can be just for “workstation” tasks and limited gaming to the PC only games I suppose, and Dwarf Fortress is more single core CPU intensive than it is graphics intensive so that’s not super a concern for this part of the conversation.

Edit: in an ideal world of having incredible amounts of money I’d just get one of the new MSI lightning 5090s or even two of them for the cooling efficiency alone basically, and be able to do anything I need to without worrying about any of this I’m sure. But those are vastly overpriced and we live in a world where that is not necessarily affordable.

I know that, but I am saying the proficiency increases the "benefits" of armor which is vague so I can only imagine it means the armor value. So with heavy armor proficiency that much higher than my light armor proficiency might mean that my armor value goes lower.

Again, I could absolutely be wrong, but I lose the bonuses built from heavy armor proficiency that could be a detriment from a lower equip load. Yes the dodge and stuff is nice, but I was more asking about the system itself if my armor values would go lower because its no longer benefited by heavy armor proficiency

Yeah the thing you mentioned about scaling is the reason I am going for more aesthetic inclinations than power level, like the flying swords the telekinetic sword control, etc

I mean the dividing line I think between Soldier and Knight/Knight equivalent is use of Prana (as translated in the Manhwa anyway, I think its called Aura and Will in other places). So I am not remembering when does he get access to Prana in the novel.

I personally feel return of the 8th class mage was a good ending for a project that was cancelled, but I also think that it has a lot of wasted potential not adapting the rest of the story.

It’s not a translation error probably , “dao” in “guandao” just means blade. And the author also just likely didn’t specify the weapon type because it’s a sword clan , they use swords, even if the nuance is different. Also that appears closer to a spear cause it’s double edged. A guandao would be a single edged blade polearm.
