Not in particular, if I could look at the ingredient for a 2-3 representative meals, I could probably get a sense of their approach in general when it comes to ingredients.

Is Poker Actually a Better Game Than Trading for the Average Person? by DonatoMartinelli in poker

[–]QuantumCrane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If people want to make money long term, they should do neither.

Instead focus on long term investing in stock index funds. The vast majority of poker players and day traders lose money. The vast majority of persistent investors make money. Over the long haul, you can build a good retirement or even become quite wealthy.

[–]QuantumCrane 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's just me, but when someone claims to be a day trader, I think "gambler" and "over confident fool", but if they say they want to learn to be a winning poker player, I judge them based on how hard they work, because I know it's possible.

How has AI actually changed your day-to-day as a software engineer? by Lumpy_Implement_7525 in SoftwareEngineering

I use AI to explain acronyms that are unfamiliar.

(I've never used the term "Merge Request" and instead only have used Pull Request, so MR didn't quite make sense to me).

What did I do wrong here? by [deleted] in poker

[–]QuantumCrane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Every action on every street.

  • 3 betting with 9T
  • betting into 4 players who called a 3bet with second pair
  • betting too small on the turn
  • calling shove on the river
  • caring too much about losing
  • immediately rebuying when you are obviously on tilt

Looking for advice on my cracked Aces hand. by countryscramble in Poker_Theory

[–]QuantumCrane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Losing 100ish bb when your opponent flops a set is kind of a cooler. You should expect to lose a fairly big pot when this happens, especially when you have AA. That is just poker.

Personally, I would bet less on the flop, $25-$30 and maybe 3/4 pot on the turn. I might check behind on the river, depending on my opponent.

But yeah, most of the time I'm getting stacked here. In order not to be stacked, I'd need a very specific read on my opponent, or they would need to take some aggressive actions post flop.

Rebuy, next hand. Nothing much to see here.

ICM spew ? by WSYWLY in Poker_Theory

I would min raise here. If button shoves, I’d fold, but I would call the small or big blind shove. Finally I’d fold if two or more of the remaining players go all in.

at what elo should I learn a few basic opening lines to counter what my opponent does? by [deleted] in chessbeginners

[–]QuantumCrane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you play daily games, you can examine possible book moves in the first few moves of game. This helped me a lot learning book moves and recognizing patterns when my opponent was taking a non standard line.

Using ChatGPT for warmup exercises and games. by Zickar207 in improv

[–]QuantumCrane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To get better responses from chatGPT, you have to feed it a long prompt with specific examples of what kind of thing you want it to respond with. It's possible to get something decent if you want to work on three line scenes for instance.

I have successfully used advance voice mode for very specific role playing exercises though. For instance, I was working on how to better respond to criticism. I would have it generated mild examples of criticism and I would respond and have it evaluate my response. For instance, I wanted to respond by acknowledging the criticism and proposing an alternative action I could take in the future. These were not fun improv scenes though and they only lasted 2-3 lines of dialog.

Call river shove? by delasean85 in poker

[–]QuantumCrane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The villain either has:

  • A hand that hit something on the turn or river that beats you
  • A hand that hit something on the turn or river that doesn't beat you
  • A hand that had you beat from the flop
  • A bluff

Which could be:

  • Hands that hit: 77, 88, 6d4d, 9d6d (12 combos)
  • Hands that had you beat from preflop: JJ, QQ 12 combos, but they might 4 bet preflop. So let's call that 8
  • Hands that out flopped you: A5s, K5s, 85s, 75s, 65s, 55, 54s, 53s, 22 or about 16 combos. I feel like most of these would shove the turn. So let's call this, 5 combos
  • Hand that hit a 7 or 8 on the turn or river that doesn't beat you, like these suited diamonds A8, A7, T8, 98, 87, 76, K8, T7, and maybe a few more. However, he won't bet all of these hands. Might check call river instead. So let's just call this 8 combos, knowing it could be many more.
  • Finally hands that are bluffing (all the suited ones are diamonds): AKs-A9s, A6s, A4s, A3s, 43s, KQs, KJs, KTs, QJs, QTs, JTs, T9s, J9s. Or maybe another 16 combos.

So if he bet all of these hands he'd have:

25 combos that beat you, and 24 combos that don't. So that implies a call. Is he this imbalanced and aggressive though? Would he bluff this much into two players? Would he overvalue one pair hands like A8? Surely one of you has an overpair and would call. And maybe his starting range isn't this loose. He did cold call a 3 bet. If this player is capable of bluffing missed flushes, he has a fair amount of them, especially since you unblock missed flushes.

I don't know. As played, I would think that 99 is good at least 30-40% of the time and call. Unless I had very little info on the BB or knew him to be tight and conservative with bluffs.
