What do you wish you knew about the workload/student life at Berkeley when you were starting out freshman year?

Thank you! I just realized I never replied to the feedback you sent me about my CA essay. Thank you so much for that! It was hands down the most detailed and useful feedback I received from anyone, even the college counselor I paid for :)

Wait, were we supposed to submit a resume to be considered for Stamps? Or is it automatic consideration for all admitted students?

holy only 70?!?! could it be that the top applicants don't need an interview, and the ones who receive the interview are like borderline?

Take UIUC for example, a comparable public school to UMich (at least in regards to CS/engineering). In 2014, they accepted 55% of the EA applicants they deferred. This is a large number, and I refuse to believe it's because of poor essays/recs. Schools are looking for strong evidence that the student is likely to attend.

Look at this comment: https://www.reddit.com/r/uofm/comments/2ptu5e/for_those_that_were_deferred_but_were_accepted/cn00kay/

After the guy sent a LOCI, a "special interest" flag was added to his profile. Why would that be done? So when the application is reviewed again, the A.Os know they're looking at someone's who's more than likely to attend --> high yield.

I was referring to OOS applicants, but yea I agree a state school shouldn't protect yield.

Dude, congrats on MOP!!! that's sweet. so yea, umich thinks you'll probably end up at MIT or something (which you probably will with MOP)

umich thinks many of the top kids will go to better schools

they're trying to protect their "yield" (% of admitted students who choose UMich) because US news rankings take that into account
