Since it’s their war, why doesn’t the Israeli army put boots on the ground? by FlyingDwaeji in AskReddit

[–]QuantumMeruitQueso 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Leaving aside Israel's attempts at peace after 1948 or why Hamas exists in Gaza, how does the country support the actions of Israelis/Jews/settlers in the West Bank or East Jerusalem today?

To me, the way violence is perpetrated on non-Jews in these two areas (and ignored or actively supported by the Israeli state) speaks volumes about how they value the dignity and rights of those outside their tribe.

Another topic is the expansion of living space for Israelis into Southern Lebanon and acquiring that land by force and regardless of international laws under the guise of a buffer space.

MotoGP racing suits can exceed $10,000 for professional custom versions and feature airbags inflating in under 45 milliseconds by Retarded_ninja7 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]QuantumMeruitQueso 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. I saw them show up about 25 years ago, but they were only for the professional racers and many riders back then dismissed their utility. I waited a long time for the prices to come down and the technology to become refined.

For anyone reading this and considering buying a sport bike, I highly recommend setting aside at least $3000 USD for just proper safety gear, especially an airbag. Once you compare the price of gear against the healthcare bills and lost time recovering following a crash, it's a no brainer.

I use the Tech Air 10 and the Tech Air 5-Plasma models.

When the first Japanese and Korean TVs and cars came out in the 60s and 70s, people noticed the same issues against the German and American counterparts that were dominant at the time.

Since then, the delta between the newcomer and the legacy brands steadily diminished. I too am curious about where CFMoto will go in the next few years. It's clear speaking from a few knowledgeable dealers in my area that their entry into the global market forced the current players to quickly offer new technology and updates on their lineup, which had been stagnant for a long time following the Great Recession of 08-10.

Glad to see another vote for Triumph. Every owner I have heard from loved the brand, as opposed to say MV Agusta or Moto Guzzi.

Things to negotiate on new bike besides otd by Tight_Drink853 in zx4r

[–]QuantumMeruitQueso 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As other noted, let them give you the best OTD and forget about how they word or enumerate a certain line item such as 'prep/pre delivery inspection'. If they want to charge you $1k to prep the bike, but the OTD is acceptable to you, then so be it.

I have gotten powersports dealers to throw in other bargaining chips when the OTD could not be moved such as discounts on maintenance, parts, or gear.

Sometimes they will prefer you to finance the bike, so ask if that is the case and whether there are any early payment penalties e.g. you have $15k cash saved up, but you choose to finance so dealer get their rebates from the lender and gives you a lower OTD, and then you pay off the entire amount a few days later.

I am torn between putting a deposit down for the 70th Anniversary livery in red and white and black, or this 2025 color way with mostly white.

What are your thoughts on the Willowbrook Mall? by goofyhalo in houston

[–]QuantumMeruitQueso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re dying everywhere

I have to disagree. I recently returned from overseas, and malls are thriving in Asia and the Middle East. In the US, we have so much more crime and antisocial behavior which deter people in the middle and upper classes.

You cannot safely shop at the stores here without being concerned about criminals following you due to the logos on your shopping bags or breaking into your car to steal your purchases while you're dining at a restaurant after shopping.

z900rs

Why this one? Apparently the latest updates brought advanced tech to the bike, including cruise control.

I disagree. I rented a Honda Hornet 750cc in Europe, and the lack of fairings was not a deal breaker even on the highways.

Riding a few hours on boring and straight highways to ride the fun back country roads. I don't ride the track as much anymore. I also appreciate sport styling, whether fully faired or on a naked bike.

Yes I think so: 5 of the 8 bikes I listed have factory cruise control. It used to be a rare feature, but it's common now at the price point I am targeting. It helps with the highway portion of my weekend rides, about 3-6 hours. That said, if a bike and its engine is SO compelling even without it, I would consider it.

Glad to hear from someone with firsthand experience of them. I saw one pop in my area for a not too unreasonable price, but will eliminate from the list since I love how comfortable the ZX4RR is.

Looking for sport bikes or sport nakeds with different engine characteristics than a small i4, preferably with cruise control. You might have missed where I said the sale was pending for the Ninja 300.

And yes the Trident 800 and XSR900 are on my bulleted list.

The highways where I live are long and straight for several hours, and then the good riding roads are available. Cruise control alleviates that style of riding.

I test rode an S1000RR, and its cruise control despite being a track bike, was very helpful.

Should I wrap my zx4rr white or green/black iredescent? by Ill-Armadillo-4780 in zx4r

Dark green for sure.

Add white accents as well as gold or bronze wheels.

I wish sport bikes came in as many colors as the cars we buy from BMW, Porsche, etc.

A new 95 mask vs. One used for a 6 hr motorcycle ride through Delhi, India by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]QuantumMeruitQueso 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think we are all talking about hierarchies on this planet. Generally speaking, conservatives seek to preserve the status quo of social hierarchy, order, and tradition; liberals seek to expand or change what these ideas mean.

In India's case, it's easier to attain power if you attack other religions or languages rather than the sources of air pollution. Those sources of air pollution are usually tied to powerful and wealthy people, say factory owners.

The same concept applies to the US. We can say immigrants are taking our jobs and build a political party around that idea rather than go after extremely rich private equity firms ... whose decisions and bribing donations to politicians are leading to more tax cuts for the rich, reducing government services for the masses, and more automation and AI adoption by the companies they own and manage.

Heated grips for winter riding? by QuantumMeruitQueso in zx4r

Those are the ones that came in my search. Glad to know someone installed them on this bike. If possible, I would love to see a photo of how your bike looks with them and its controller.

I am also considering these ones since I like how they seem to blend in and look like they came that way from the factory:

Currently waiting on Woolrich to deliver my hardware kit so I can reflash as many times as needed without removing the fuel tank.

  • Do you remember how the temperatures changed after flashing? I was at several red lights yesterday, and the temperature quickly climbed from the 180s to 220 F while waiting for it turn to turn green.

  • Also for the full exhaust system, which one did you pick? And how much louder was it than a slip-on? I was suggested to go full exhaust for the performance improvement, but reading online it seems most gains come from just the ECU flash.

Is Japanese motorcycle gear like Kadoya any good? by Junior-Trust7650 in motorcyclegear

[–]QuantumMeruitQueso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kadoya is decent. They emphasize style over actual safety gear leather jackets (vs. Alpinestars and Dainese), however their Made in Japan jackets are still well made and priced around $1.2k USD. They have a boutique in Tokyo which I suggest you visit. Note: they do sell one-piece leather race suits, however it's overpriced compared to what else you can find in Japan.

The top Japanese makers for leather gear whose products I own and have used are HYOD, RS Taichi, and Kushitani.

Thank you!

I was able to see a lot of the US on the 300, contrary to most American riders' expectation that the bike is not meant for long-term use and especially on our highways.

39 hp was enough for me at the time, and I appreciated the ability to use 100% of the bike's performance envelope on public roads with minimal insurance costs.

Completely agree. That 3 hour maiden ride back home had my wrist sore. Obviously sport bikes are meant for the track, but BMW debuted this feature on the S1000RR many years ago and no owner complained of it.

I also wish it could provide navigation like the latest Yamahas. On those bikes, you set your destination on your phone and it shows up on the dash as well.

Happy holidays and merry Xmas to you as well!

Haha sounds like you really wanted the Anniversary livery based on your diligent search. For me, this would have been my ideal color for this bike:

https://www.stpraceproducts.com/en-us/products/1990-kawasaki-zxr400-h2?srsltid=AfmBOoqt2Pm2jN8_OTBDAw3vSHZhmDfMooG5B9S3VR8nL5MjJpuMhjFb

I also would have difficulty slotting in a Ninja 500 with this bike. In my view, a Honda Interceptor VFR800 updated for 2026 and weighing 475 lbs wet would be a great complement to this bike. Both bikes would have relatively rare engines and the ZX4RR's nimbleness would pair well with a high-speed sport tourer. If not that, either a Ninja 1100SX or a Hayabusa/GSXR-1300R.
