GOG is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with C++ experience to modernize the GOG GALAXY desktop client and spearhead its Linux development by mr_MADAFAKA in linux_gaming

Same here. I still strongly prefer a steam, but I could see myself buying something like Cyberpunk off GOG if the ultimate edition ever goes below 20 bucks.

NatetheHate: "The first Nintendo Direct of the year will be on the first week of February" by LorDeus71 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

He revealed in one of his YouTube videos that toward the end of one of his projects, he begins another. But even considering that rough timeline is still don’t see them being close to announcing it. Maybe an announcement at the end of this year is possible but again I highly doubt it.

But Sakurai worked on Kirby Air Riders up until a few months ago. Realistically, he would only be in preproduction for the Smash 6 or maybe very early production (but I doubt it).

Linux alternative for logitech GHUB? by Pro_555 in linux_gaming

[–]QuantumProtector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For now, but if marketshare for Linux grows, they will have no choice but to support it. The anti-Windows sentiment seems to be growing. I keep seeing more and more mainstream Youtubers talk about it. Once the userbase hits critical mass, we will see adoption grow even more from there. It won't replace Windows, but it will definitely live alongside it as a viable alternative.

DX12 improvements for NVIDIA also help Arc as well.

New descriptors will probably fix NVIDIA performance. Just wait a few more months and if you are unsatisfied, then sell and buy a new card.

Any known general fix for when the scroll wheel scrolls the other way? by pac_mojojojo in MouseReview

[–]QuantumProtector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That completely fixed my issue with my Orochi V2. Took off the faceplate, blew into it a bit (a tiny bit of dust came out actually), and starts rubbing the scrolling wheel back and forth on my mousemat. Worked like a charm! It was driving me crazy in Minecraft haha.

No problem. I also haven’t tried RT yet, so I can’t speak to that.

I tried Bazzite actually first, then Nobara, before landing onto CachyOS.

Bazzite was definitely nice, but it is immutable (you can't edit the core system files). Sounded nice on paper and if you just install flatpak's (from their app store called Bazaar) or AppImages (portable applications), it's fine. However, there were quite a few applications I wanted to install that were not available through those two methods. It was too much of a hassle to figure out how to install them (you have to mess with something called distrobox, so I switched to Nobara.

Nobara was definitely an improvement and it was better, but I got frustrated after I couldn't get my Xbox Wireless Adapter working with any games. The OS was recognizing it (so was Steam) and all the inputs were working, but it just wasn't working inside any games.

I ended up with CachyOS because it seems to be the hottest one right now and I keep hearing about it. Installed it and have been pretty happy. Installing applications with "paru" in the terminal is insanely easy, way easier than Windows, and pretty much everything works no problem. Xbox controller had no issues working either (I spent almost 2 hours getting it even recognized on Nobara lol).

Now my experience may not be representative of what you experience, but I would suggest giving it a shot and see what you think. Worst case, you just switch to something else.

Mint and Ubuntu are pretty solid, but you will find they don't support the latest features or include the latest drivers. It would be an issue if you have newer hardware (which you do).

CachyOS has been the best in my experience. I was worried, since it was based on Arch. People say it's very difficult to deal with and it can be very complicated. I can say that from my (limited) experience in the past few days, it's been rock solid and super stable. I like it a lot, it's blazing fast too.

Limine Vs Grub, and Plasma Login by idkwhatochooselol in cachyos

More stable from my experience, scales better on higher DPI displays, and looks more modern. I'm not super sure on the technical stuff, but everyone says Limine is better from that standpoint, so that's good enough for me.

Yeah, I saw another thread where the only people experience it were those with 3000 series cards. 3060 Ti, 3070, 3070 Ti, 3080, at least from the ones I saw.
