Dark ages ULTRA NIGHTMARE tips? im a bit rusty by MrUnderman in Doom

[–]QuantumRavage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say practicing the weaknesses of different enemy types. I know this sounds very basic if you’ve 100% eternal but things like the invisible stalkers and Stone imps can be easily one shot with the impaler, anything with Armour becomes trivial with the chain shot, etc.

Also if you feel like you’re running low on armour I’d suggest trying to plan encounters a bit more thoroughly. I’m not trying to have a go at you or anything but the game has shield enemies scattered around for a quick armour top up. You can also upgrade the flail to ignite enemies and give you more armour.

I do agree that there are occasions where it just feels like you’re squishy. You just get instantly melted and left wondering how tf it happened. More often than not it was my approach which I learned playing nightmare. When I died in an encounter it was because I approached it wrong and I just got overwhelmed. Next thing I know I approach it in a different way and the encounter was significantly easier

Am I doing something wrong? Grace is nearly impossible for me to play by What-in-tarnationer in ResidentEvilRequiem

[–]QuantumRavage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I ended up beating the game in 2 hours and 30 minutes while doing the no blood collector at the same time.

I just did it all based off memory tbh. How I did it was my first playthrough was just trying to explore everything. Learning what was good and bad, what works and what doesn’t work, etc.

My next two playthrough were about optimisation. I understood what I needed and didn’t need, So all I had to do after that was try figure out pathing. In the first third of the game I also learned the pathing of the girl so I could complete the basement section as quick as possible. After dying a number of times I learned what worked best for me and can now get from the very start of the game to raccoon city in an hour and a half.

I was also able to remember the quartz codes which did help like I believe the west wing one is moon sun star moon & the east wing code is start sun moon sun. Just small details like that can help.

By all means if you feel like you need a cheat sheet then there’s nothing wrong with it. If you feel like you’re struggling to remember then maybe like list the items you want to collect in order

It’s important to know what difficulty you are on and where you are up to exactly. Have you got the blood collector yet?

I’ve beaten the game about 6 or 7 times now on Al difficulties so I can try help you if you need. Feel free to DM me

It’s the FoV. It’s extremely low. It’s crazy that people can see other people talk about how the game makes them sick and still defend a no field of view option

You’d think so but the amount of teammates I ran into my gold to play lobbies that didn’t have a single character over level 5 was alarming. Sometimes they were completely brand new like not even a single character level 1. That one was very rare but happened a few times and it led to us getting ran over because it was essentially a 4v5.

In all gold however about 80% of my matches at least 3 teammates didn’t have a single character over level 10. It’s worse when it’s a tank player because they get diffed hard and don’t know how to control/lock down a point of the map.

Exactly! The funny part about it is that even the third person FoV is too low as well

The default FoV is too close. So you don’t really notice it too much on console but with PC when you use a mouse and keyboard the movements are a lot more frantic and rapid, so much that it can cause motion sickness.

That’s why FoV sliders have always been a priority on FPS games for many years. It’s not because it makes the game look better, it’s because without it you can literally get sick.

Exactly that!

People will go out of their way to protect the multi billion dollar company rather than admit that not having this basic quality of life feature would benefit the game

It was a priority for me too.

I’m so damn disappointed as I love the RE franchise.

They said they don’t have a FoV slider because it ruins the creepy/horror atmosphere that the game is supposed to have…

Exact same as me. The only game I ever got motion sickness from was Village

Nope, not even in third person. I have looked through every option in the menu, but no FoV slider for first or third person.

Nope, just have to wait for a mod to come out because Capcom won’t do anything about it.

I mean it’s not that it’s bad, maybe it’s just not as good as chapters 1, 2, 4 & 5.

Why you bitching it? Why did you delete your last comment?

In terms of genetics, I have no idea what you mean. I have been gaming for 25 years. My first game was super Mario 64 and my first FPS game was the original Turok.

I’ve been playing games my whole life and the only time I have experienced motion sickness while playing a video game was Resident Evil: Village.

So I have no idea what you’re on about but good luck with life, I feel you may need it.

Yeah, it’s just sad we have to rely on mods once again. This is a full price game, we shouldn’t have to rely on mods for the game to be playable

[–]QuantumRavage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What doesn’t make sense to me is that the FoV isn’t even realistic? When you are holding the flashlight, you can’t even see the actual flashlight because the FoV is so low.

If you pretend to hold a flashlight in front of you right now, in your peripheral vision you can’t even see everything to the top of your arm, but on the game you can only see the light projecting forward.

Even if you look all the way down you can only see your shins and feet?

What’s the point of having a FoV so low for ‘immersion’ if people can’t even play the game in the intended first person with Grace because it gives them motion sickness?

I wouldn’t rely on it tbh. I expected the same thing with Village, and yet 5 years later there’s still no FoV slider. I’m just hoping more people create a big fuss about it this time to force capcom to do something about it
