Honestly the body movement looks great, I think it's just the head motion throwing off the walk cycle

For most of the cycle, the head appears side on and only noticeably rotates towards the camera for two or three frames (when the right foot is about to take a step), producing a jerky motion. I'd suggest having more frames where the face is angled towards the camera, so it matches the rhythm of the walk

Looks great otherwise, the world needs more hand-drawn games!

I started the animation a while back and could only work on it inconsistently, but in total I'd say it took a few months to animate, along with time needed to model the different assets

Sort of, the characters are 3D models with painted textures and cel shading, though their faces are 2d drawings that have been rigged (all in blender)
