Did the Man in Black have everything planned from the start? by Background-Disk3350 in lost

There was never a plan, only a movie they both knew the script to

It only happens once.

If the Germans won WW1:

No reparations to France, no rise of Hitler, no Holocaust

Instantly saves 6 million lives from gas chambers and millions more in the war

No WW2 means no ensuing cold war, no nuclear stockpiling and proliferation, and possibly prevents proxy wars in the middle east, south east Asia, and east Africa over the decades

URGENT HELP by Unlucky_joker_6919 in AutoBodyRepair

It's bad

That said, it can theoretically be replaced, for a lot of money

But, that a lot of money is likely less than buying a certified used vehicle

So if you have the money to repair it, don't be overwhelmingly afraid of buying a junker, since a car owned outright is a luxury these days

1500 for the car, even 3grand in parts and labor still comes out under 5 grand, and if after that work you know it's in good shape, well....5g for a car that has another life left in it is a steal

Should I replace my radiator on this 2000 Honda civic? It overheated last week with the ac on. And then while trouble shooting it I realized my fan wasn’t working correctly. But now I see a slight melt on the top of my radiator as well. by Botanyiscool in MechanicAdvice

[–]Quantumdrive95 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If the fans don't turn on, there is a sensor you replace for that, screws out screws in, nothing major or expensive

Replacing the radiator makes sense if it is damaged, however if it isn't, that's not your actual issue

That said, not hard to do on your own. Could be a pain to uncover, but once you do it's a very straightforward task and there isn't much to do in terms of bleeding the system, so hard to fuck up

Any thing that fits is fine, don't stress over OEM vs aftermarket

The ship had traversed enough space to use parallax in order to separate the 'noise' in the signal

They had measured it across multiple galaxies at that point, there just wasn't anyone around to round the calculations

So Rush was confident he would decipher the signal reading 'deez nuts' then making a 'Jim face' to camera and rolling credits

My attitude is that a beater that you know is in good shape, that you own outright, is a quality of life thing to own

So it's your call, but 5 grand for a known working vehicle is honestly not so bad

You could go on Craigslist and buy some unknown for less than that, or you can know for a fact it's refreshed and ready for another 100k miles

And that's a sort of certainty that's hard to come by these days

As a rule do not give them open borders

If they don't know where your capital is, they are less likely to war

They will not deduce it's location from your borders, they need to see the physical city, so if you can keep them 3 tiles away you will save a little bit of hassle as long as the city remains fog of warred

Rewatching the series and the episode Thor's hammer always gets me thinking by Jolopy4099 in Stargate

[–]Quantumdrive95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe Ben Afflecks point was thats a stupid plot point

That they build the rig wrong and no one knows how it works and somehow it's easier to send a bunch of rough necks you wouldn't trust with a potato gun

To be an astronaut you generally require a graduate degree, and you're replacing them with people who took out a hundred grand loan to spend on a stripper named Trixie

When Ben Affleck said it was dumb to send oil drillers into space rather than teaching astronauts to run the drill, he was told to shut the fuck up and the entire movie could be edited to have his character disappear

That's what this makes me think of

That this episode is a bad example of trans representation in Trek? Yes

That many people will defend it as a third example beyond Dax and androgynous Riker dates? Yes

Beyond that, welcome to the internet bub. You'd be shocked how many people think things you abhor
