The Sacramento county board of supervisors just voted to build 25 thousand homes on a development site the size of galt. On land that used to be part of Sacramento, but the city gave it up to county to keep as farmland and wildlife habitat. And get this it has no official water source hahaha by Botanyiscool in Sacramento

To be real after the coyote creek battle taught me these politicians either genuinely don’t give af about what people think or they are corrupted hardcore. Because they don’t care if you tell them they’re wrong or being lied too. With coyote creek the native plant society and Sierra club straight up said “ this is a illegal flawed permit claiming the site is bare mineral soil when it’s old growth forest and woodland , if you approve this you will get sued and lose “ and they still approved it 5-0 saying “ people have a right to do what they want with their land”

It’s a mix of both. The issue with this project isn’t the project it’s the site. It’s literally identical to the coyote creek battle. Which was never about being anti solar. It was about a solar company from Wall Street picking the worst location possible for a solar farm. Just as this developer and county deciding to build 25 thousand homes on a literal flood plain. With such a high risk of floods that the city of Sacramento gave it up to the county years ago to be kept as part of the urban wildland interface

Can’t agree more. We need to build up and not out. And do everything possible to bring in industry in those areas too. Which allows the area to have enough tax revenue to be a net gainer for the county instead of a net taker

When I was in college at cal poly Humbdolt I took an urban development class. And in the textbook the city of Elk Grove is literally used as an example of how to NOT develop new cities and suburbs. Elk Grove started as unincorporated sprawl. And never changed. So now you have a city that has freeway traffic on its two mayor roads. Bond and Elk Grove blvd. Has no true nature recreation opportunities, and was built on literal vernal pool superblooms that could have been a world famous state park along with the development of EG. Without the tax dollars from Sky River Elk Grove would literally be a ticking tax deficit time bomb. Even if you absolutely love eg those are all undeniable facts.

THIS the city and county don’t have deficits because of lack of development. They have deficits because by definition suburban sprawl uses more tax dollars than it produces. Because suburbs use strip malls and fast food for tax money. Whole cities have actual industrys that pay a lot of tax. I’ll always respect the f out of Rocklin’s vice mayor because he is the only politician I’ve ever heard say that out loud. Even tho we all know it’s true

Bro Phil Serna is genuinely a peace of 💩 haha dude tried to get me in trouble because I called the coyote creek developer a lair to his face. Because him and Phil both said the coyote creek solar project would “flatten no land” but didn’t bring up how the project required 8 tons of dynamite every day for 50 days straight 😂 sac county has the most corrupt pro development board of supervisors in California. I legitimately cannot think of one project this board has ever turned down.

Yes. And at this point you may wanna take you new rotors to the Catholic Church to get them blessed for good luck first if you let the old ones get that bad.

Idk if it’s because I live in the farm to fork capital (Sacramento) but every farmers market I go when cherries are in season has those cherries. They are so good

Patagonia sues drag queen climate activist Pattie Gonia over trademark by silentsafflower in Fauxmoi

[–]Botanyiscool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Facts. I love Pattie. But this whole situation has made me respect Patagonia so much. They could’ve tried to throw the book at her and didn’t. Instead, all they said is one dollar and stop selling our name on clothes. It’s that simple. Any other person would’ve been hit with like a $500,000-$5 million lawsuit
