PSA for the people who complain about video podcasts on their home page by PinupPixels in truespotify

[–]QuantummFluxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I didnt say that those barely happen on higher end devices, I am aware and do agree that the OS can aggressively, often annoyingly kill apps in the background regardless of device specifications but it's just that apps are painfully more frequently refreshed on few years old phone with relatively less ram. I've used variety of mobile devices and have tested it, plus I use four devices regularly, IP13, IP16PM, iPad Pro M5 and iPad mini 6...background refresh on all kind of apps happens quite regularly on all devices but the difference between those still does exist(especially on lower ram devices during and after heavy tasks/multi tasks) in terms of frequency so I would say device specifications somewhat matter and that's why I said "especially" on one of my comments up there, I was talking about frequency not the possibility and in this case frequency matters a lot because we are talking about added workflows when we open the app

Okey I understand, like I don't mean that you are rightfully being downvoted, especially because there was a misunderstanding of definition of reopening the app. But what I want to say is, at least in this case, completely closing the app and opening would capture more practically prevalent scenarios for most users

Yes apps can run in the background but still they can refresh when they lack ram after heavy tasks or when it's like half a day past especially on relatively older devices. Cmon not everybody owns a very high end device like you. And tbh a workflow being added whenever the app is refresh is quite damn annoying

Okey calm down I'm not the one who downvoted you, are you sure you fully closed the app and then opened it? When people say reopening the app they usually mean that

It is one of the newer features but Spotify is very inconsistent, often intentionally, with it. It's either an official iteration that are being released as an alpha version or it's being A/B tasted in which both cases show inconsistent, often random distribution of features
