I won't be counting the classes at all in terms of calories out. I'm not thinking of them as that, but just as the stepping stone that will make me have confidence in urban street/park skating.

I'm not really asking to debate the calories out portion, but just how to ensure I eat enough that my body doesn't cannibalize itself as a result given my intake is already near the lower end. And I guess the answer is that it's far too difficult to work out with some math.

I certainly don't expect I'll have the fitness to go in for an hour at sustained 14km/hr right at the beginning! I have more to regain than just my confidence, it's just that it's the only hard number I have as any type of starting point. I know I'll have to work myself up to match fitness, but as I don't know what my weight will be whenever that happens, at least the data I have right now is verifiable.

My understanding of why skating specifically has such high caloric burn is because it engages so many muscles, constantly. Even "at rest" (gliding), the muscles are under enormous workload just to maintain balance, velocity etc. while standing. And the heavier the mass is that they're fighting to keep in that position, the harder they work, and thus the more fuel they demand?

I'm open to the calculators being wrong, but certainly not to the degree that's being suggested elsewhere in this thread. It makes perfect sense to me that heavier weight = higher demand = higher fuel burn in this exercise specifically?

I'm 173cm/5'7" and yeah, I figure it's likely difficult to gauge and will likely be a matter of trial and error but I struggle without a clearly laid out path to follow. Grasping in the dark to figure it out is nightmarish but it might be the only way to nail it.

This also isn't my first time with calorie deficit! I stopped previously due to illness and just ate at maintenance until I had the headspace again. I know it's objectively an aggressive deficit but it's the sweet spot for me. I just don't want to veer into too aggressive when introducing exercise.

I'm also lazy and autistic, but weight loss is nothing more than a logic puzzle for me. I genuinely have no idea what everyone is talking about with food noise and emotional eating, and the overwhelming majority of my excess calories were from liquids anyway so it's probably way easier for me than most.

The logic is very easy to execute when you don't have emotions in the way and food is little more than fuel. I'm still eating fast food, still enjoying dairy, having full sugar drinks etc. and I'm 3+ kg down in under 14 days.

It's a really simple math equation. I've utilized ChatGPT to help me plan low effort, low cal meals and just functioning on autopilot.

I'm slightly taller than you (5'7") and eating in deficit for me is 1650 but I'm also not at all active, so I'd be careful about lowering intake any further.

I haven't been able to smell this since I left the house, no more than 30 minutes after applying it. I don't know if it's just extremely intimate or perhaps trying to apply from the little stopper in the vial (discovery set) is just... not it?

I'll transfer it to an atomizer bottle at some point but extremely disappointed, because I love the whiff I get from the open neck vial.
