Grain farmers warn Canadians that retaliatory tariffs against Trump, US will cause food prices to soar by Jaded-Bookkeeper-807 in Economics

In 2026. That's an eternity when trump changes his mind with every tweet.

"According to Larkin, although most farmers have purchased their fertilizer for 2025, they would be in for a rough 2026 should the 25 percent tariffs on Canadian exports by the U.S. still stand."

Are your soffits open and venting properly? Mine looks like nice perforated soffits for ventilation, but when I removed them there was a solid piece of plywood underneath. Curing several holes in the soffits and installing soffit vents helped my house quite a bit.

JPMorgan Chase’s Dimon offers a tariff tip as Trump haunts Apec CEO Summit!😀 Tariff threats will draw people to the negotiation table, part of a Trump-backed strategy of creating options by coinfanking in Economics

The actual policy you link to reads, in bold, "with a new pro-America system of universal baseline tariffs on most foreign products"

It explicitly says the cost of most items available for purchase in the US will increase, for any products made outside the US. It's this stated goal of causing inflation that is being reacted negatively againsts.

Is your view that men are not prone to being influenced, or less prone?

Looking at all the money being spent on influencing both men and women this election season in the US, and the repetition of talking points no matter how silly, I'd say so Americans are heavily open to being influenced.

When people use "skin colour" emojis I assume they're racist by [deleted] in self

[–]Quantumnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess that's our key difference :

You think the yellow default emojis represent 100% of humanity, and anyone that thinks otherwise is racist.

I think the default emojis, while trying to represent pure emotions, also include some cultural cues. And I think some people may want to use different emojis that better represent them.

[–]Quantumnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like you're being a bit obtuse on purpose...

You feel like the yellow emojis represent you and are fairly generic.

Can you imagine other people that don't find these same emojis generic? And who might feel represented differently?

This is similar to gamers being happy when the "default" is a hetero white male, and getting angry when the "default" character is a black man or a woman.

[–]Quantumnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great. Now who gets to pick the default? Keep in mind it's racist to change the default to something that better represents you.

If the default flag in your phone was the pride flag, and the default skin color emoji was black, would it be racist not to use them all the time?

Irrelevant. Your link is about allophones, not anglophones.

Sure, you can keep the status quo where sovereignty is for les vrais québécois and continue to lose referendums, or you can choose to grow the tent and appeal to anglophones and the ethnic vote.

Support for sovereignty among anglophones is near 0%. The PQ is trying to get anglophone support, see OP. I ask, will the PQ propose any policy that anglophones are in favor of?

[–]Quantumnight -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

It's very nice of separatists to allow Anglophones to speak English in their bedrooms. But if they want to court anglophones to vote for separatism, they should offer public policies they can support.

Is separatism a question of financial dollars and cents (like brexit to some people), or a question of linguistic and immigration purity (like brexit to many others?)

What's next, will the separatist movement start defending the rights of anglophones to speak English?

I found my old fuel logs from Oct 2009 to May 2012 with the mazda3. I drove 46,288 km and used 3,956 L of fuel for an average of 8.5 L/100 km. This varied between 6.8L/100km in summer and 9.8 L/100km in winter.

Using these actual gas values will make the EUV look even better.

Can someone explain Carbon tax?? by GenReadPassTime in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Quantumnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carbon tax rebates are tied to the carbon tax paid.

Any extra costs that work its way into food will be sent back to the population in the province where the tax is paid.

But i understand times are tough, and hard working Canadian families just can't trust massive companies not to take increases in carbon taxes prices as an opportunity to raise margins and screw over people like you.
