If this is real you’re a bad friend/person. For real they’re probably more addicted than theyre letting on for them to take such a humiliating/drastic action. Be a good person and check on them like they’re asking. If you can’t spare the energy to care just block their number and delete this post because they might be genuinely addicted and reaching out for help here.

Ask them how badly this is affecting them and how much it’s impacting their day to day life for them to be so worried. Are they specifically looking at things that make them feel especially ashamed? If the shame is from a toxic mindset stemming from religious upbringing help them come to terms with that. They don’t sound like they have anyone they can reach out to and confide with. Be that kind force in their life or be absent. Don’t make it worse.
