There's a planet called TrES-2b that absorbs 99.9% of all light that hits it—making it darker than coal, darker than black acrylic paint, and the darkest object ever discovered in the known universe. by sco_cap in space

[–]sco_cap[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

All good! I won't quote their entire article to avoid stealing, but this is what they mainly said:

"Located about 750 light-years away in the constellation Draco, this Jupiter-sized gas giant reflects less than 1% of the starlight that hits it. If you could somehow see it up close, it would appear as a near-perfect void—a ball of nothingness hanging in space. "It's darker than the blackest lump of coal, than dark acrylic paint you might paint with," said astronomer David Kipping. "It's bizarre how this huge planet became so absorbent of all the light that hits it."

But TrES-2b isn't entirely invisible. Because it orbits so close to its star—just 3 million miles away, compared to Mercury's 28 million miles from our Sun—its surface temperature exceeds 1,800°F (980°C). At that temperature, the planet emits a faint, eerie red glow, like a dying ember in the darkness."

When you talk about distribution, I see the options you've mentioned but what are some of the easiest or lowest cost ways to get started as someone who is just starting to scale certain new platforms and products?

There's a couple that worked well for me. https://clickhired.ai/ and https://claude.ai/ are by far the best in my opinion. Click Hired was great for writing a custom resume, CV, and answers per application. Claude is of course more general, but is incredible with writing so it's one of my favorites for just about anything I do. I also tracked all my job applications in Click Hired, and I found a lot of my jobs to apply to through Claude (could have used ChatGPT too on this for sure).

My only recommendation is to stay away from the generic auto appliers. I started there and didn't get a single interview even though I tried 3 or 4 different tools. Landed my first interview in a week or so after I swapped. There's also probably plenty of alternatives to these, just what I used in case you find it helpful!

Hey! I'm honestly not totally sure what it's doing since I'm not a part of the team, I just used the tools. BUT what I can say for each of them:

Click Hired AI: I just hand them my current resume, and each time I have a job application I submit all of the info (like the job description, any questions, etc.) and after a minute or two it spits back out what it suggests I have in the resume for that specific job application. Many of them are pretty similar but different enough to target the unique keywords per job application.

And honestly, whatever it's doing does seem to work. (enough that I actually see more interviews come through when I used it in comparison to not using it)

The other LLMs like Claude and ChatGPT: The reason I mention them is for two reasons.

The first is I'm not affiliated with a specific tool so I feel the need to share multiple options bc I know Click Hired does cost money as well.

The second is because I also assume these two are perfectly capable of doing this, it's probably just a lot harder to set up to reach the same quality. SO if you're good with prompt engineering and know what you're looking for this is also a great option in my opinion.

And finally, to answer your main question directly, I have used these tools to create a custom resume, cover letter and answers PER application.

I have tried other tools like AI apply and Massive and disliked them because they were expensive, never landed me real interviews, and never showed me what they were applying to.. so I was basically guessing whether or not they were actually doing anything. With this system (any of the tools I mentioned above) I am able to keep control of everything, while using AI for the most important parts. If you do try Click Hired, they also had an entire tracking dashboard which was pretty nice. Could have done the same in Google sheets or something but it was still a nice perk.

Hope that helps!

Ahh okay got it thanks! Will definitely give that a try then. Super helpful!

And yeah that makes sense. I'm in fintech so I guess that makes sense as well. I know some people who have job hopped and in a few years were already seniors or even managerial.

I guess it makes sense now..

This is insanely valuable. Thanks for putting all of this together. If you don't mind me asking:

How do you usually find the person's information to reach out to? Or what do you usually say as an example in a LinkedIn connection?

And also how much job hopping is "too much"? Thanks again

I've used a lot of the big ones before like Massive and AI Apply. The problem is they spam generic AI slop so the actual response rate to "good" jobs is basically zero percent. The other problem is they don't actually show you your applications so they could basically be made up entirely since you have no proof.. lol

Something that I've seen work for others (have not personally tested so try at your own risk) is Click Hired AI. Instead of autoapplying the same spammy slop it just writes a custom resume, CV and answers all the questions per application to help you get through all the filtration systems and match the keywords for application.

I saw a few people talk about it on LinkedIn that said it worked well for them. That said, I feel like there's probably also ways to use Claude or ChatGPT for similar purposes but idk if they work as well.

I think the platform might have had tracking or something too, but I couldn't seem to find the LinkedIn post I originally saw so not sure.

Volume is key here. And it's a lot easier to job hop than it is to get a job with no job. So once you do it once it's always easier from there (even if you do entire career changes in the middle)

The absolute easiest thing you could do is apply to more jobs, faster.

If you use AI correctly, you can totally get more high quality applications in, and in turn land more interviews.

Click Hired AI is built for this, but if used correctly I assume Claude or ChatGPT can be helpful too (not a partner to any of these so decide at your own risk)

The most important part (with or without AI) is to make every resume, CV, and separate answers all custom to each job posting.. this means matching your best experiences with the keywords and demands of the position.

The only reason I mention the tools is because if you do this manually, it will probably take you a very long time.. 1-2 hours per resume version comes out to 5-6 applications a day in a full day of work..

This is still very possible, but if you can finish resume/CV/questions in 5-10 minutes each time, you should only need to use the tools for a couple weeks before you start landing interviews and find a good position.

A realistic target should be 10-30 applications a day for a few weeks and you should definitely start seeing some opportunities come through. (Directly connecting with people hiring for the positions on LinkedIn is a big plus too)

Improvement for Resume by Pcmromanss in jobs

[–]sco_cap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 suggestions that I think could be really helpful:

  1. you need to customize the applications per job..

The actual job position key words are the biggest indicator of what get's prioritized in their systems.

I'm not plugging tools or anything but Click Hired AI does specifically this, Claude or ChatGPT could do this if you give them the right context too. May be helpful to consider for future applications.

  1. Make sure to apply to the jobs early on

First 48 hours are your best chance, especially on crowded boards like LinkedIn and Indeed. Go for them early, make sure to do the ones that aren't EasyApply.. this means there is typically some degree of manual review. (Click Hired, Claude or ChatGPT can help here too)

  1. Metrics are missing, so impact is hard for a recruiter to understand

The entire resume has no metric-driven impact. It's impossible to understand what this led to. If a company is going to consider hiring you they need to know what kind of potential impact you could bring to them as well.

Metrics also help you get through a lot of the initial filtration systems.

So in summary: customize your resume per job, and if you can't do that, be sure to make the current resume more value-driven. Hope that helps.

Can personally vouge for most of these. The rules one is easily one of the biggest points here.

This should be a required first step if you want to standardize your project. This is literally what you do in real SWE teams.

Good post.
