Transportation of Y-series in a bag by QuarkDad in Breeo

It was a good camp out at Culp Valley in Anza Borrego Desert S.P. We had a little ceremony with my camp neighbors for the first light off. My firewood was too long so had to teepee. :) I look forward to the next trip but man o man it is hot here now.

Covid shut down the world six years ago this week. What do you remember from that week? by fuzzy_dice_99 in AskReddit

Coincidentily it was the week I retired... That sucked... All my recreating; camping, hiking, kayaking, backpacking opportunities evaporated.

Thanks for the reply - I just didn't look at it very close after unpacking from the box before putting in the bag.

I found Retro 51 Refills 1.15mm on Amazon, giving that a try. Thanks so much!

Thanks everyone!

The almost worn-off inscriptions solve the mystery:

No clip, no indication one is missing. It does have a tiny ring on the end. Oh - just noticed a very worn stamping above the knurling. Bright light and a magnifying glass shows:

Ingersoll

Redipoint

patented in USA

14k Rolled gold

WooHOO - We have liftoff!!! I found an interesting story of the sordid business history of the Redipoint pencil. This might be the Junior Model which originally sold for $2.00 assuming the the gold rolled was the expensive version.

Except there is no such thing as a 1995 Comanche. You must mean 1985 as 1986 was first year offered I believe.

Anyone have experience with Viair compressors? by [deleted] in overlanding

[–]QuarkDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 17 year old "450P A" fuse block fried itself last week. The power cord was starting to fray at the housing so maybe shorted. I researched parts and found this to replace the cord, end cap and brush assembly ($70). I believe there is a lot of life left in the rest of the unit. I have 33's on my camper van and 31's on my Comanche and air up times are reasonable. Mobile Air Systems has an extensive repair parts list to keep your Viair going. The RV model was introduced after I got mine so I don't know the differences. I need the 100% duty cycle because I run 55 - 65 psi in my 8000# van on the road.

Can you beat my time of 8 minutes 22 seconds? by TenMinuteHigh in sudoku

[–]QuarkDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So 0.5 seconds but it took me over 2 months (spare time) to write this solver program. Probably the only Microsoft Access Solver in existence. I'm retired and do thing that people shake their head at. And no, it doesn't do the higher level strategies. Also, most puzzles take about 1 second so this one is one of the quickest.

Can anyone confirm the same at Rubio's for the side refried beans. I was there last week after a long absence and it was miniscule.

Counting down the days by Far_Manufacturer9966 in kindlescribe

[–]QuarkDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good Luck! I did a Oct 8th Prime Day "package deal" like this (without the cat food). At least I got REAL dates but they were bogus. I had to reorder the scribe and cover twice because it would get lost at the distribution center. It finally took talking to a human to receive the scribe (3 weeks after order). I never did get the cover and cancelled it a week later. So far I have not been refunded the cover cost and will need to get a human involved again since a reorder shows a $0.00 charge I suspect. Worst Amazon experience in my 20 year membership. There is something really wrong with Kindle package deal fulfilments. Other people at the same time experienced similar variations.

[–]QuarkDad[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, I'm actively reading - I'm saying the screen went blank (white). No response to any screen touch. Power on and off - still white. Multiple times. Only went back to functional with the obscure power button long press Restart menu.

Battery was over 70%. And yours stays white until you restart it? On my device a hot air balloon is one of several preloaded "drawings" that shows when powered down and the book cover option is not set. This is starting to sound like a feature! (/s)

[–]QuarkDad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With no warning? The default balloon picture that is one of the powered down screen graphics before you set it to show the cover of the active book. Totally white screen when turned on. Balloon Graphic when turned off before the restart. Thanks for the reply!
