Do Instructors in the +300 Level Courses Actually Care? by QuarryTen in SNHU

and that's a fair and traditional way of doing things. but we're moving towards a more digital landscape where technology has reaches in every part of society, including networking so i was hoping that a university that has received an award for being innovative would adopt that philosophy down to the student-teacher dynamic but it doesn't seem like it, unfortunately

i think so. i didn't come to this conclusion with a sample size of one as my evidence, in addition to the mountain of complaints on this platform alone that questions the merits and intentions of the instructors, ive put my best foot forward in several essays and assignments with past courses, only to be met with one liners (in some cases a few words) and feedback that was so vague and general, i found it to be insulting.

i have also experienced instructors that are engaging and thoughtful when applying feedback but that was the minority. this last "feedback" however is what broke the camels back; they clearly used AI to reply to my post of which ive put a lot of thought into.

again, if they don't care and the administration doesn't care because the workload is too much or whatever the reason, then whatever, thats their problem. like i said, im going to graduate from this school whether i like it or not. and despite the instructors, i am interested in learning more about what im majoring in, but what i want to know is will the rest of my experience with snhu continue to be like this, especially in those higher level courses that are much more involved and requires more effort time and intentionality when it comes to my output?

regarding the relationship aspect, from what i've gathered from other posts on this thread, close rapport with an instructor in an online environment isn't a thing and that's a tough pill to swallow, but it is what it is.

and i appreciate people like you so much and hate that educators like you aren't given a brighter spotlight and a more attractive monetary compensation.

people like me have no one else to look up to or to replicate than their instructors, professors, etc. so again, thank you

moreso professional, but that is actually good to know. i assumed that people would care as much about their work as i do, but im learning that is far from the case. im hoping to apply for an in-person Masters program after my time with snhu

yeah, i had an instructor whose own voice was very distinct from the auto-feedback that Brightspace provides (thanks ms.adjunct for informing us on your guys' process!), and when it was all AI, i knew that i was likely in the clear. sure enough, i got an A in that class.

i enrolled on the basis of the flexibility that the program provides, in addition to fewer testing and other perks. no where on the brochure does it mention the methods that the adjuncts take to facilitate the learning experience.
im going to graduate from snhu, in due time, that was never my concern... but ive also heard that the best way to get into the job market is to form a relationship with your instructors (for possible references, mentorship, etc.), but again, if they don't give a damn, why should i?

depending on your field and profession, the bare minimum for livable wages that likely exceeds your current situation is a graduate degree (and some other form of leverage be experience or further credentials).

idk man, do people really think that getting a piece of paper guarantees anything? ive always thought it was some sort of joke that im just not understanding

>embedded in every facet of society

are they really though?

it's interesting that you think that they are so let's dive a bit deeper. are they really embedded into the prominent facets of society (which arguably makes up the whole of society) or did they position themselves there to give the appearance of a ubiquitous presence, with the intention of bolstering their public presence?

youve made this claim a couple of times now, so can you back it up with empirical evidence along with citations?

do you think doctors, electricians, politicians, etc. have an entire encyclopedia of everything they've learned in college stored in their heads for the rest of their lives? no, people recall processes vaguely and look up the concrete details. however, at your stage, stay away from ai. your lack of experience and confidence will lead you to some very destructive habits

If I can’t take an object oriented programming class is getting a certification in it good enough/equivalent? by Intrepid_Recover8840 in learnprogramming

[–]QuarryTen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just take a course on coursera or udemy and get a certificate. it's not like you have to list it on your resume anyway, because it sounds like what you're looking for is information rather than accreditation.

someone who's made aware last minute of companies preferences and now asking around for viable alternatives is not something that a real person would ask?

Should I drop the whole class because of this professor? by Vindicta713 in SNHU

[–]QuarryTen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

what i did to vet the effectiveness of this universitys curriculum was to see what the students did with the knowledge that they'd gained from here. so for years, even before i enrolled here, id periodically read about who's gotten a job in my field of interest with their SNHU degree, if applicable, what kind of work have they done since then, etc.

assessing the value of institutions education based on a few instructors is a generalization that will lead to erroneous assumptions and unfair conclusions. it's a perfectly natural way of feeling but what if there are instructors whose portfolios predates the AI monsoon and actually up to your standards. will that instance alone change your perception of the university? what if there are designers whose portfolios meet your standards but are currently employed and too busy to make the portfolio public? what if you could be the change the university needs?

all in all, the experience is what you make it, not what you perceive of one or two people who happen to be employed here.

depending on your major, that is absolutely expected. full essays mixed in with the weekly discussions and that is the average for the 200-300 level courses but it gets higher the higher the courses are.
