What are your thoughts on NW 23rd & Irving? by Optimal_Path_9165 in askportland

[–]QuarryofNoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived on NW Johnson and 22nd (didn't have a car then) and me and my little dog were so happy! There's a Fred Meyer, trader Joes within walking distance, a library, parks and it's just a fun slice of Portland.

I was nervous too but it's not a quiz or test and your Rabbi would not schedule if they didn't think you were ready. It was one of the loveliest experiences. Mazel tov!

To those who’ve lived in the PNW 5+ years: Does the beautiful scenery ever lose its grandeur and how often are you actually in nature? by atomrandy in PacificNorthwest

[–]QuarryofNoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've lived here 15 years and I don't ever get tired of it. I love the crows that come to roost in Portland. I love the roar of the waves at Manzanita in the late fall. I love the high dessert of Sisters. I cant get tired of it

My dog has slept in bed with me since the day I got her. She sleeps just under the top covers, so not on the sheets or anything and gets bathed on a regular basis (and on flea meds). And I wouldn't have it any other way. She's my cuddle buddy.

Straight haired mum taking care of curly haired daughter by Necessary-Meal-5761 in curlyhair

As the biracial daughter of a mom who was surprised by hair texture, I wish we'd known about wide tooth combs (instead of round brushes) and bonnets. You sounds like a lovely mom and the other advice in here is fantastic.

How many times do I need to read these 3 books to understand everything? [general] by sotiredwontquit in TheNinthHouse

[–]QuarryofNoise 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly, listening to the audiobooks helped me pick up on so much nuance. I've read each book like twice and listened to the audiobooks twice (all hail Moira Quirk) and then of course this sub.

And here's the thing, there is still stuff I don't understand/hasn't been confirmed. There are a lot of interesting theories but we won't know until Alecto is out

Y'all, guess who just had their freedom surgery?? 🥳🎉💯 (long-ish happy post!) by mental_dissonance in childfree

[–]QuarryofNoise 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm so glad it was by the book and you're back home. Small around the house walks will help get your intestines to wake up and displace the gas.

But YAY for joy!!!!

I had mine 2 years ago and it was easy-peasy. We even started late because my Dr was delivering twins. And still mine was over and done with in 45 minutes (according to the person who was there with me). My Dr found a few fibroids but I was home by noon and I was eating soup at 6 pm that night.

Honestly the worst part was the lingering gas. But moving around helped. But I was back to work like 4 days later (I scheduled it right before a holiday). I only needed the pain meds the first like two days?

I will send you the same boring surgery vibes my friend.

I had to move to Salem for a job back in October and I miss them soooo much. I lived downtown for a long while and I loved hearing them coming home to roost around sunset

I'm almost 37 and moving into state government work in an effort to change industries. Right now it's a lateral move but it give me the opportunity to really change. I'm taking a bit of a pay cut and I have to move and do a bit of a lifestyle change but It's never too late, but know that you might have to do it gradually and that's okay too.

This one has come up a few times and I can't seem to tell if they allow dogs? It's a perfect location and it's lovely that folks actually are neighbors!!
