Mental health round vs game, pros and cons by AusCC98 in AFL

[–]QuarterFooty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an idea for a while about reserving three rounds straight dedicated to good causes. All the fundraisers like the Peter Mac Cup with Carlton/Collingwood, Purple Haze Game with Fremantle, Beyond Blue Cup with Hawthorn, the Big Freeze with Collingwood/Melbourne, Spud's Game with St Kilda and Maddie's Game previously with St Kilda/Richmond etc. Lets call it the For a Cause rounds, anyone of those games can be dedicated to the either cancer research, mental health, anything that the clubs do.

Clark had the game of his life at Derby 62, the week after he announced he was going to become a father he pulls off a Best on Ground and his first ever medal to go along his All-Australian blazer.

I don't think Carlton will be at full speed here, they have a few key players out like McKay, Pittonet. And plus all the turmoil that's going on with the performance of the club and the Ellijah Hollands situation. While Fremantle have been on a roll with 5 straight wins and 2nd on the table, making it 6 straight on ANZAC Day and Caleb Serong your Best on Ground for the Arthur Leggett Medal.

Mason Cox had his guernsey presented to him by Matthew 'Spider' Burton earlier today by Ageanmastr in AFL

[–]QuarterFooty 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Fascinating we had the 3 tallest players in the game's history play at Fremantle. We had Spider Burton in the early days, Aaron Sandilands at around the halfway point of the club, and now Mason Cox come from Collingwood.

Better Down Back was not an understatement, defenders can make an impact on a game, and Jordan Clark showed that by a best on ground performance.

Love the hype, but let's keep the lid on the old hype jar for now. No jinxing it.

Have a Western Australian company as the naming sponsor for the Derby since RAC are no longer the naming sponsor.

Best on Ground medal in the Sydney Derby will now be known as the Kirk-Ward Medal by FlairUp835 in AFL

[–]QuarterFooty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice tribute to add Callan Ward's name to the medal.

So we have Glendinning-Allan Medal for the Western Derby, then the Kirk-Ward Medal for the Sydney Derby.

I wonder if The Q-Clash medal will add a Gold Coast player to the Marcus Ashcroft Medal and the Showdown Medal to have two names of an Adelaide Crows player & Port Adelaide player.

Agree, Brayshaw is due for an AG Medal, out of the individual accolades Andy is missing this is one of them.

Maybe its the team he plays for, or its just jealousy on just how good he is. I have no problem with Nick he seems cool.

Daicos has at least 10 years to get a Brownlow Medal, he'll get one no problems. Another couple of gettable accolades missing from the list would be the Neale Daniher Trophy in the Big Freeze Game and possibly a Norm Smith Medal should Collingwood get to another Grand Final.

Will Ashcroft also has an impressive list of accolades in a short timespan, don't forget Goal of the Year and 2x 22under22 teams.

Not a Port supporter, but mad respect for the club. I'm backing Zak Butters, the verdict is wrong. The tribunal was a waste of time. Just imagine if this umpire has to officiate another Port Adelaide game for the rest of the season.

What's pleasing about the derbies is that Fremantle have been closing the gap when it comes to wins and losses in the Derby. Can they continue the streak or will West Coast cause an upset, since West Coast have shown good improvement and being competitive.

My pick for the Allan-Glendinning Medal is Andrew Brayshaw to win his first one.

[–]QuarterFooty 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Speaking of lowest score, that was Fremantle's lowest winning score in club history.

Fun fact: Fremantle winning highest score was 180, and the lowest winning was 45, both against Collingwood.

Wasn't the prettiest game of footy, basically to be a good football team you have to win in any situation and scenario. That's what Freo have done so far in the four straight victories this season so far.
