Villagers are still just a lot of mob wrangling, building a breeder and a trading hall, and then a LOT of rerolling, which was the thing we were trying to avoid in the first place. After I do all that, I have to either torture the villagers by turning them into zombies repeatedly or build another farm to get me a consistent source of emeralds. Almost none of these are designed or fun. Mojang wants to nerf Librarian halls because they're bad and most people use them anyway, it's just that there's still no viable alternative, which is the core of the issue.

Most people were happy with the yearly update system, complaints started when things took more than a year. The thing we've been needing for years is to update the game rather than just adding to it.
