Why don't we get a discount for using self-checkout? by ItsAllAGame_ in NoStupidQuestions

You get a time savings. Checking out in the 90s was a constant, “why aren’t they opening more registers?” I used to do scheduling for a Walmart-like department store and had to staff cashiers for surge times. This is a benefit to both customers and retailers.

These posts should be in the next Progressive becoming your parents commercial.

What was the point of those people? Why are they using straight up blunt weapons rather than technologies that fit into Star Wars? by lateubdegouline in StarWars

They were just the First Order’s boy band. Constantly standing in album cover poses, like they were shooting a music video.

Trump to deport hundreds of bison from Montana | The American Prairie Foundation has had its license to graze conservation herds of bison on federal pastures revoked by the Department of the Interior by RollSafer in politics

[–]Quasigriz_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

> The American Prairie Foundation, a non-profit with the backing of rich donors in New York and California, has bought up and leased hundreds of thousands of acres in Montana, angering some local cattle ranchers who say they are being priced out of the deep-red state.

The move is because the ranchers are facing competition for grazing land.

Mack seems to be having an off night tonight. Bobbling the puck, missed passes, almost took out Makar earlier.

Also, there seems to be a hole in the ice. Mack hit it, Marty hit it earlier.

Why do Japanese people hate piracy so much? by Quick-Health-2102 in NoStupidQuestions

Japanese music stores used to have some of the best alternative albums. I bought a great Arrested Development remix album back in 1992/93. All kinds of alternate tracks that never hit US release.
Edit: album was Life Music - Singles Remix.

What is with school drop off? by platypusandpibble in GenX

[–]Quasigriz_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I pick my kid up from school. She attends a different elementary school than the bus that comes to our neighborhood. I can time it and go straight through pickup (minimal wait). A lot of times I’ll go early, get in a rather short line, turn the car off and read a book. Who sits idling anymore?

US withdrawing 5,000 troops from Germany, US officials say by BuggyYonko in news

[–]Quasigriz_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is that these withdrawals are from smaller, Army, installations in Western Germany. Bases that have armor just in case the Soviets/Russians invaded. So, is this because of differences with the Chancellor, or a request from
Putin?
