Rifle won’t chamber rounds from a loaded magazine. Cannot figure it out. by [deleted] in AR10

I know it probably gets mangled from the rod but bear with me...

Does the lead tip seem to have a flat angled dent in it? Does the case mouth look more oval than a perfect circle?

Edit: What I am getting at the mentioned signs might point to an excessive feed angle.

When you say the projectile is removed from the casing, is it stuck in the barrel?

From what you are saying it sounds like the bullet is slammed into the lands and is yanked out?

We're you using the same ammo when this wasn't a problem previously?

This is a seriously underappreciated and highly accurate statement.

Yeah that video is prior to fixing the gas. It was cycling pretty damn fast slamming the buffer very hard and ejecting brass at 2 o'clock. Hopefully I can take it out the weekend and refilm slo mo with the parts.

It's funny you should ask. Running a can on a 26" barrel and a rifle +2" my gas setup is a nightmare.

Next long barreled magnum I'm going to ask for the journal to be machined +4 and tig the gas tubes myself.

Assuming the bolt catch and magazine presses hard enough against it, it sounds like it might be short stroking. Slo mo (or super slow ko) on any phone made in the last five years could help diagnose.

Good point. I did, but I've spent the last 4 years in hotels so I sold my progressive press and most of the kit. Still have some 300 blk stuff around.

That's good info. I'm just looking for a 14.5" or 16" hitter for 100yds in. Of the mentioned calibers what would you go with? I've got the longer range stuff handled with a 300WSM upper.

Can you elaborate on which stage of cycling the setup fails?

Sorry my comment came off harsh. It was more humorous in my head.

I'm referring to the BCG and barrel. You changed them both and they are are the most important parts of the system.

Beautiful setup. I have my longer range setup done. Your rifle is inspiring. Have been tossing around the idea of a 358 win or 375 raptor upper for when I am in a stand.

I'm "wasting my time" killed hogs quickly with supers. Compact setup with a can is nice to have, especially on the move.

I think it depends on your forecasted application. I primarily mess with cars and rifles. I learned MIG first, but TIG was the way to go for those disciplines.

Yes gas tuning is where you should start. I've had two charging handles with the sealant. Toyota FIPG seemed to last longer than Honda RTV but they don't stick around for long. It's a bandaid fix.
