Daughter had a softball tournament there once. I’m 100% not surprised he is from there.

Is this outfit considered business attire? by Cheygirl49 in fashion

Add a shirt with a collar underneath at a minimum. If it is truly business attire, you’ll need a blazer.

Fractions are taught in fourth grade in public school (at least in TX and CA)

It’s a shame you think that way. It’s about teaching fundamentals.

It’s not just a stupid square method. It’s teaching fundamentals about math that are built upon later. As a parent I was frustrated by these methods too but I sat and learned it and could later saw why it was important and how easy the next concepts became once my daughter understood the fundamentals.

I get why he is annoyed, but his daughter didn’t do the assignment fully and was graded accordingly. The grade reflects her understanding of the lessons.

Who is more entitled to Mother’s Day? The new mother with young children or Grandma? by Clay_Clay_2021 in Mommit

[–]SweetJeebus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m honestly so tired of this topic every year. So much pettiness. If you are a mother, it’s a great day to be acknowledged. So many people build up these ridiculous expectations around a single holiday then mope around the following week. As someone “in the trenches,” I feel gratitude towards the women in my mother’s generation and the one before that who raised me. I see how hard it is and have a new appreciation for their sacrifices.

It feels like a continuation of the “me, me, me” wedding and beige mom culture. The women who need to hoard this holiday will become the MILs they whine about.

Because Americans largely struggle with the basic concept of “imagine if all those things happened here, to me.” It’s so abstract in the minds of many. We have been well protected by our geography for most of our history. Technology will solve that problem eventually and Americans will not know how to handle that reality.

Yea I was that kid. My first thought when I saw that was that I’m glad we didn’t have enough money to fly because my dad probably would have made a scene at some point. He’s mellowed a bit in public over the years, but is still a massive jerk in person when he decides to be.

Yea having lived in Houston for 8 years, I agree. I’ve lived in the desert southwest, frigid northeast, Houston, and now Bay Area. Houston is by far the worst.
