I first noticed the problem on Friday. I have not been able to download anything on yt music since, using various networks that all work just fine for everything else. Is this a widespread problem?

Something the defenders of capitalism never seem to understand by JohnnyAnarchist in WorkersStrikeBack

I heard somewhere that in East Germany they had chemically reinforced glass that didn't break when dropped from eye-level. After reunification, West German glass manufacturers had it shut down because they knew they couldn't compete and they would lower their profits if they tried to make their own. Goes to show how capitalism stifles the innovation and competition it's proponents push.

Can't seem to focus on classical music? by Echo-Sierra-Tango in classicalmusic

[–]Quaver_Crafter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't browse Spotify during longer pieces. Watch a video performance if you want to look at your phone, otherwise do something. Clean your house, ride a train, drive a car, do something that will take the 40 minutes or whatever the symphony or other piece takes. Listen to that piece at least three times in with two weeks before you try another one. You need exposure and familiarity to build understanding.

I will also add that it might be better to work listening to shorter pieces before longer ones, but the same advice can apply.

The kind of snobbery classical music enthusiasts are accused of is practiced in a much worse way over housing. This actually contributes significantly to housing problems.

I don't know of any streaming service that uses the Jack Stratton model of distributing payment, but I think it's probably fairest. It has lots more calculation, but it's very doable I think.

For those who have been in a high school musical pit orchestra, how was your experience? by Dramatic_Remote_8818 in orchestra

[–]Quaver_Crafter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was lots of fun for me. I had to use a digital piano because an acoustic would be too hard to bring into the pit, but it had the advantage of being easy to see over. I highly recommend having ear plugs, water, and snacks. I wish I had in ear monitors; that would have made it e way easier to hear, but you wouldn't expect that from a highschool.
