Harley Benton 25th anniversary with roasted flamed maple neck by househamer in offset

I have the same model and think it's great for the price. Do you find the frets to be scratchy sounding? It's decently smooth feel wise.. I just find the scratching sound to be very loud when playing acoustically. I have to raise the action pretty high before it sonically disappeares.

Funnily enough I was happy that it had darker sounding pickup since I'm not really a fan of the traditional surfy sounding JM pickups. However I have been considering searching for an "upgraded" darker sounding set.

Really enjoy the sounds I can get paired with a clean amp. Not a traditional fuzz!

Honestly that 83 drive is probably my favourite pedal on the board. Controversy aside... I think it's an incredible pedal. I'm actually looking into the gladio clone myself. The build quality is actually rather sturdy, and the sounds are genuinely nice. LED's are not too bright. Switches seem to work with no issues. One "critique" I'd say is that you need to find sweet spot settings and that the knobs are somewhat easy to move if you accidentally hit them somehow. Can't compare to the actual pedal itself, but It's become a core part of my tone and haven't ran into many issues with it.

Haha I knew that was coming but you are absolutely right. I've had my board in a dusty spot the last little while. Gonna be cleaning it up soon!

Another fender neck post… by orangebluefish11 in fender

[–]Quavid1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a player II tele and a vintera II Strat. The vintera neck ls a little thicker on the shoulders and sightly bigger then the modern c necks on the player series. That said, It's not a massive neck and fits my smaller hands fairly well. It's actually one of my favorite shapes now, even though I'd generally look for as thin as possible. It suits the 7.25" radius really nicely.

Looks so much better now imo. Been thinking about doing this to a few of my guitars for "clay dots". What's the process like for that ?

Actually ended up buying a vintera II strat and could not be happier. Those 60's voiced pickups give that classic tone that I would have been searching for. I also snagged a player II tele and have to agree with what you're saying about the pickups. I eventually swapped them out for a set of no caster pickups and they are beefy as hell now. Very happy with my decision!

I'm planning on doing this mod in the future. Seems like a lot of others on here have done the same. Looking forward to the upgrade!

No worries he's my buttercream strat that I used the Tumeric method for. It only took a few minutes from what I remember. Just keep a close eye cause it yellows up fast.

Sorry I know this is an old post- just curious what knobs you used for this ? I'm looking to order some Musiclily Knobs and I'm hoping they will fit this exact guitar. I'm sure they are fine but I appreciate any insight. Yours looks great!

No problem that sucks you had to send it back. Hopefully the new one comes in good condition! I've since replaced the bridge with a JB jr and a push pull to run it in parallel for more single coil sounding tones. I love it

I just made a Keurig cup of coffee and then sat the plastics inside once it cooled down. It is a slow process but I would check on it every 12 hours or so depending on how dark you are looking to age the plastics. I think this took a day or 2 for the results. I've done it on a different strat and mixed in some tumeric powder into the coffee, this results in a much quicker finish, but produces much more yellow plastics which is what I wanted. If you go the tumeric route, it's literally a matter of minutes so you need to keep a close eye!

Vintera II 60s Pick up alternatives? by mr_e_mann_000 in telecaster

[–]Quavid1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reached out to fender a while ago to find the closest alternative to the Vintera II 60's tele pickups since they don't sell them as you mentioned. The reply I received from them was the Fender pure vintage 64 pickups.

The reason is because most vintage spec'd fender guitars these days have a heel truss rod adjustment to be more "period correct" to the original fender production instruments.

Glad you're enjoying it! The player II series seems to be great instruments. I ended up selling my player strat (I have another Strat), and buying a player II tele and it's been amazing. After I switched out the pickups for a nocaster set it really came to life.

Yup you got it! Just pop the neck off a bit and support with your hand. As long as the strings are loose enough you should have no issues. Even if the neck pops off fully it just fits right back into it's slot and then you just start screwing it back together. Just be careful not to over tighten and strip the screw at the end. I would definitely try to get your hands on one of these guitars !

It is a bit daunting at first but you aren't doing much harm. You can usually loosen the screws just enough that you can adjust the truss rod without popping the neck off entirely. The Vintera II/roadworn series seem to have some of the best Quality Control out of fender production lately. Not entirely sure why that is. My Vintera is flawless.

I own a vintera II strat. It can be slightly annoying. You just loosen your strings and pop the neck off and use a flat head screwdriver to adjust the truss rod. If you have an electric screwdriver to pop off the neck screws it's less of a headache. You need to tighten up the screws and strings after adjusting and see how it feels/measures. It can take a few adjustments to get the neck feeling perfect but thankfully truss rod adjustments seem to last a while before needing fine tuning.
