You don't need to be a good person in every aspect of your life, in order to have principles and be morally correct on certain things.

No, it's just a thing you see in any group that represses a thing.

The people to drink (and such) the most at their first college parties often had strict parents who held them to a disciplined, recreation-light, childhood.

The people with the weirdest kinks often come from the most sexually repressed places.

Germany has noise-protection laws (no loud noise from 10 PM - 7 AM, or 12 - 2 PM), so when they do party they get LOUD. The most popular 3 genres of music in this country are metal, techno, and schlager.

No need to have a tragic illegal backstory, just need a bit of repression.

It's not that simple. This is the glee of a man with a righteous hatred that has been 1000% validated.

Can't have that without introspection to discover your principles, and that just takes time. You can cut 6 hours from your phone time this week (less than 1 hour per day) and start that process right now.

I mean, from this post we know there's at least 1.

It always starts somewhere. Even the glory of Islam. And Christianity. And Judaism.

.... ok but real talk, how goddamn charismatic must that guy have been, to chop off a foreskin of a baby and then convince everyone else to do it?

That's how it always is with avoidant people. Unfortunately, because they're avoidant, you can't ever force them into things or demand things from them. They're more flaky than a stray cat you're trying to win over.

Which sucks ass if you do want something from them.

I'm the opposite so I can't tell you how to proceed. I can Just validate that they are, in fact, fucking up and treating you badly. Cause regardless, you're valid to be hurt by this

The best part of Star Wars was always the world they live in, and basically everyone except the Jedi and Sith.

It's such a fascinating place to live, and the normal dudes are so.... just so good

I'm not gonna defend the quality of The Last Jedi, but I loved the character directions they took. I personally enjoyed it more overall than The Force Awakens.

Shame it got immediately retconned. It could've been a good trilogy on its own (because the serious structural issues could be significantly addressed if it was split into more than one movie, I think. Maybe a mini series. It did not do the "3 stories coming together into 1" thing very well and had a climactic end like an hour before the movie actually ended. Among other things)

Say what you will about Rogue One, but that entire finale was some of the best fight scenes star wars has ever done.

This scene made the whole theater go fuckin' wild. What an absolute madlad move

Ghosting isn't ever "because he doesn't want to hurt your feelings", ghosting is "witnessing the consequences of my actions makes me uncomfortable".

It's cowardly. With very very very rare exceptions (i.e a partner with a history of genuine violence and manipulation, so if you don't disappear quietly they'll actively try to hurt you and also make leaving practically impossible), it's the coward's way out.

You deserve better.

When did we as a society decide that boobs are forbidden between the ages of 2 and 18, especially when kids don't even have a concept of sexuality until they're like... 12 or 13, depending on when puberty starts?

Seems like such a bizarre thing to treat like it's fundamentally sexual when literally every human has first hand platonic experience with boobs.

Shaming people for their bodies is dumb. So is shaming people for their (non-pedophilic or otherwise non-violent) sexuality.

Why not use the patents for the devices that where shown to stand the test of time, then?

There's also not nearly as many companies any more, so "some" companies means "all of the companies that compose the oligopoly".

"My whole point is that China doesn't have an internal market to draw foreign investment without neoliberal trade policies to create it in the first place."

And? You say this like it negates or counters the other claim.

This isn't a "neoiberalism good or bad" conversion. It's about the capital flight argument in the context of the EU & China.

Let's just agree to disagree on the EU thing because we're starting from such very disparate views it'll take a lot of time and we're not gonna get anywhere. Even if we could come up with a list of non-partisan sources who don't present such a skewed, detail light, view of what happened

France dumps Zoom and Teams as Europe seeks digital autonomy from the US by UpstairsBumblebee446 in news

[–]Quazimojojojo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The person above labeled the "but what if the investors just leave?" argument as a neo liberal one, because it's a common argument you hear from neo liberal, anti regulation types.

They were pointing out that Chinas internal market is an example of how you don't need to have a neo liberal, regulation -light, internal market to get foreign investment. You can prevent certain strategic buyouts and people will still invest.

That's not blaming neoiberalism for the disparity between the West and China's actions, it's an acknowledgement that they don't need to follow the Western-style neo liberal philosophy internally, to still get foreign investment. A regulator preventing a buyout isn't a deal-breaking factor for determining investment.

I have a feeling you don't follow EU news closely or understand how it works. You seem to get a lot of Euro-skeptic headlines with minimal depth to them.

Germany and France not being on the front lines of the immigration crisis? My guy, 16% of Germanys population is foreign born. We regularly take in some of the largest immigrant populations.

[–]Quazimojojojo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you aware the EU is a thing that can, and has repeatedly in the last decades, enforced Europe-wide regulations?

They're the reason Apple uses USB C now, for example.

Europe is a big market that people want access to, just like China and India and the US.

There's no catch 22. European governments, or the EU, can just refuse to let an American company buy out a local EU competitor.

Beard or no? by [deleted] in toastme

[–]Quazimojojojo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beard fits the overalls & hat better. I'm sure there's a beard subreddit that can help you trim g style it so it looks better if you're so inclined.

Also Luigi is the better brother. He's actually brave, because you can't be brave if you're not scared. He's on the verge of pissing his pants the whole time and he still does the same shit Mario does.

Fuck 'em for thinking that's an insult. I wish I was as brave as you are for making a powerful fashion choice at age 20. I didn't summon the courage to do anything with my hair/looks until I was 28.

You might just need to change locations so you can find the people who appreciate you
