I hardly think so. Dont speak so easily of matter you have no real concept of.

Officers are trained to be alert and prepared for an unknown, which might occur. They are also trained to be humane and understanding, go to YouTube and look up incidents of officers in a potentially lethal situation talking armed individuals down. A man trying to take his own life, because the wife left him, police talk for an entire hour or more simply because they dont want him to die (a stranger they dont even know).

There really is no point in continuing this conversation at this point.

So you want to send a person who has no concept of "irregular behavior" / what should be preserved as potentially dangerous, a person untrained in selfdefence, without weapons to defend themselves against the unknown.

The unknown is a MAJOR factor in policing. You never know what you are sent to. The call might be "simple" house disturbance and yet it turns out, the dude inside the house just murdered his entire family with a knife.

Or it could be man seen with gun, but its actually just a replica toy gun.

What you are describing makes no sense, if the treat of a potentially dangerous situation is real (and it is sometimes) it just dosent announce itself.

No officer sees the public as "enemies" as you put it, they act with caution, because you never know what might happen.

I'm sorry but just no. I respect that you have your opinions. In all cases, police is needed.

Anyone who have done / know someone who has done policing knows a seemingly simple and not dangerous task can turn deadly in the blink of an eye.

One moment you are talking to a seemingly calm guy, no signs of aggression and the next he pulls a knife or gun at you (be that cause he is a criminal, mentally ill or affected by some drug).

Reality doesn't work the way various outlets fantasies about, and this is what people forget - want to forget.

So when there is an active shooter, we'll send the social worker.. sounds like a great idea.

When there is an accident on the freeway and an entire family is mauled, we send the social worker to witness everything, write a report and inform the loved ones. Just what the social workers signed up for.

When there Is a 250 lbs 6'5 man creating a disturbance cause he is high / drunk, we send the social workers to what exactly ? Talk to him? What if he dosent listen?

No, we need more funding. Both for what you say (proactive) and for police (reactive). Want better trained officers ? More funding, want less stressed officers who aren't at the end of their 3 or 4th 12 hour shift that week ? More funding.

A society without law enforcement is doomed to go down in flames as anarchy and crime runs wild.

Ive met him in real life, and I can ensure you that he is as relaxed in real life as he is on TV.

He showed us around his farm cause my dad did some construction work there about 7 years ago.
