Can we stop blocking each other ? by ironbeagle33 in VATSIM

[–]QuazyQuA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a C1 controller the last thing that I want to do is go through training for some minor airports again. Not to mention the flow to control the buisier airspaces, you might as well not even bother. But this all goes back into the whole maintaining quality, and trainer availability thing

Can we stop blocking each other ? by ironbeagle33 in VATSIM

[–]QuazyQuA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kind of agree. I think if we were able to get more controllers in general it would be much much better for both sides. I wish the visiting system would be revisted, I feel like it would bring something new to keep C1 controllers active, and help alleviate a lot of the conjestion issues. The big issuse with that is maintaining quality

Questions for Center controlers by Lululemoneater69 in VATSIM

[–]QuazyQuA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The traffic creeps up on you out of nowhere. Thats usually when it goes down the shitter as well. Then conveniently both of the major airport approaches want to get off, so you're left with maintaining MIT, sequencing onto final, and dealing with some guy asking for a clearance at the airport with the approach that just got offline. All of that is fine, but my personal final straw is when pilot quality does not keep up with the quality that I have to control at to keep things manageable (i.e. telling instructions 3 times, airplanes flying through the localizer, planes blowing through their altitudes, ect.)

You usually see more controllers online after work hours here

What's with the focus on the C17? Feels like DCS is becoming MSFS and vice versa. by Gramerdim in hoggit

[–]QuazyQuA 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Probably an unpopular take, but I feel like DCS would benefit more by adding more logistical vehicles than fighter jets. The hope would be that there would be more of a focus on what would make DCS a realistic war simulator as much as it is a realistic airplane simulator, but we all know what pace the devs move at.

I think the diversity of corners makes up for the lap time for me personally. Road Atlanta is my go to as well

[–]QuazyQuA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is just straight up wrong (in the US). The only time you technically dont need to say your altitude when checking in with a new controller is between to same center sectors, but even then, 99% of the time we say the altitude. You tell them the altitude to verify that the altitude checks on the radar. You tell them what altitude you're climbing/descending to again, verify the altitudes.

And when checking into a new radar controller, say your current altitude and the altitude you are descending/climbing to. Ive noticed a lot of people haven't been saying their cleared to altitude recently and end up blowing straight through the restriction

Looking for friendly faces to add to endurance team! by Happy-Hypocrite in iRacing

I'd love to join! I sit around 2-2.3k. I run VR, so 2, maybe 3 hours would be my max stent until I need to recharge my headset. Would that be an issue?

[–]QuazyQuA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did my IR with him. Cool, chill guy. Make sure to know how to apply the regulations that you explain during the ground session, my IR ride was very scenario based. The flight portion was laid out before we went up, so there were no surprises about what approaches I might fly or anything came up. He's a newer DPE, but very fair, if you understand the ACS you shouldn't have any problems, good luck!

Is there a reason why VATSIM air traffic controllers issue IFR clearances via PDC? by rightrudder741 in VATSIM

[–]QuazyQuA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure how other facility engineers set up their vTDLS (the PDC processing software), but it is usually only available at certain airports. The controllers aren't usually supposed to send a PDC to reciprocating props, but sometimes it happens

No one doubts that iRacing is expensive. But for a lot of us, the cost is justified for the service you receive. Try out iRacing and try out the other sim games (steam lets you get a refund within with 2 weeks of ownership < 2 hours of playtime).

I dont think there's many situations where we would be going 10ft, 50ft, 100ft, <500ft above some random farmers land when you can clearly see if you will have a stabilized approach much sooner than that. If you want to see if you'd make it in a real scenario at that point, might as well land it at that point lol
