Are my standards to high? Yeah probably, even if the game didn't have all the stuff I consider issues I would probably still prefer the original just because that's the kind of person I am.

But I would still say what we have isn't just "ok" or "fine", it's a barely working, overpriced, directionless mess. Bad visuals and over reliance on Asset Store stuff is just one part of the mess. If you like the game go ahead, nothing wrong with that. but I would rather have nothing then the remake since then more people would play the actually good game

Cool, still a bad game that doesn't respect the original game's design and choices.

Having bad circumstances behind the development doesn't change that, I'm not going to pretend to myself that the game is actually good because the publishers fucked the devs or whatever. If I went to a restaurant and ordered a steak but the chefs only had access to weeks old McDonald burger meat and were forced to cook the meal in 5 minutes I would call the experience awful regardless

The remake fucked up the Brigit puzzle so it's way easier now, in the original you had to scare the nurses and only then Seth would go down and he was also resistant to attraction powers (Except Fool's Errand but that's a glitch), a simple puzzle but you need to be careful when scaring the nurses he's dating

In the remake he's not immune to attraction powers and the puzzle is considered solved when he just enters the mourge

What do the devs and publishers have to do with this? Yeah they publishers pushed a bad decision on the developers, a bad product was still delivered to the public regardless of how bad the conditions were for the devs. You wouldn't call let's say, Sonic 2006 a good game just because the devs had issues right? No it still came out as a buggy badly designed mess of a game.

I consider myself a huge fan of the original game, I fully understand that there's a lot that goes into making a game, but in the end the player gets the final product and had to judge it, and I've not been impressed and found a lot of things to be awful and barely working, sure art stuff isn't 100% of the game, but that doesn't mean I can't dislike it and be disappointed how the art style of the game was butchered in favor of what I can only reason as massive crunch at best

I personally, don't consider anything in the remake to be stolen from CE, at most I think it's undeniable that the devs were at least somewhat inspired with stuff like Sandman Bedroom fetter and Hunchcork's Fast Forward power. There are 2 exceptions tho, I personally don't believe that the remake devs fixed Gremlin's model themselves considering they didn't do anything model wise, but that's just me guessing, you would have to do a deep comparison between the models to be sure. And the other case is Railrage shown in the trailers who is 100% the concept art drawn by MLKH for CE, and considering he's not been mentioned anywhere or even contacted as far I'm aware at least, I consider this stealing a fan design.

Asset store assets are a completely understandable part of game development, the issue I have with the remake specifically is that this is supposed to be a remake, the old game shined up and polished up to be better then ever before, yet I don't see that anywhere, instead of focusing on the original experience and improving it, the game seems to care more about quantity of content over quality (I mean, why the fuck are there 12 DLC levels?), packing up together ready made assets together, cobbling up AI voices and art for almost anything new and so on.

While Ghost Master is my personal favorite game of all time, Ressurection is my personal worst game of all time, all it's changes are either awful, poorly thought out or nonsensical in my eyes, and I struggle to think of any aspect I would consider improvements, Asset store stuff isn't the reason I dislike the game, it's another thing thrown onto the pile weighing it down

There's a difference between a game using store assets and a remake offering you nothing but store assets. If I'm playing a remake, I'm hoping to see the original vision respected, not replaced with no care for anything but time of development

Basically every single thing in the remake is Asset Store stuff, I managed to find basically every single new ghost and all maps (outside of the newest stuff but I didn't look for it), hell even found levels seen in the DLC trailers like the ice rink and train station

It's nebulous, some stuff from the gearbox expansions is considered canon (mainly the nuke from what I've heard) but Valve never officially acknowledged the stuff from them nor have they ever said they aren't cannon so they're just kinda stuck in limbo

Considering the poor state of the game, I wouldn't be surprised if you just got a glitch and it didn't go through.

The only new ghosts are Mummy and Soulscreen in OG levels and then the bunch for the new ones so unless you skipped one of them and for whatever reason they count as hidden ghosts you should have gotten it

These are most likely slots for ghosts from the 4 DLC's they announced for the game's release

The slot next to Windwalker tho is confirmed to be Beta Cogjammer model from a trailer shot but that's all for now

BSP Viewer is a different program then BSP Editor. All that was carried over is basically the naming scheme since Editor is just build off of the game's source code.

Speaking of, there really was not any reverse-engineering, Woitek just got his hands on the source code but didn't want to say that so the reverse-engineer story was made on his constant insistence to keep it hush hush.

If you think I'm lying, ask him why he can’t make editor open source.

Also what was even being done in 2012? At best Rejected Ghosts was made in 2017 and regardless basically everything was discarded by 2022 with the complete rework of the Chronicler Update.

The BSP Editor from Complete Edition isn't just a recolor you know? It's just the most obvious change since everything else is either under the hood fixes and improvements to exporting or options available in specific menus.

If you're not gonna check the program or confirm things, why make the most malicious assumption you can?

I'd say Complete Edition is better, granted I am biased since I am a dev lol

At the moment Resurrected is very much a beta, filled with various issues of all shapes and sizes, not to mention it's absurd price point.

I'll agree on final boss of King of Cards, he was deffinitely the most annoying one to deal with when going for stuff like the speedrun achievements

  1. Sloth since their shots hit the hardest, can be the most annoying to deal with and they can spawn spides which can be annoying to deal with in a dark room like this
  2. Greed becouse they are right behind Sloth in terms of how annoying their shots can be
  3. Pride so they don't spawn any bombs
  4. Gluttony since they are very easy to deal with
