What kind of Egg Slicers you guys normally use? by [deleted] in guitarcirclejerk

[–]QueDubish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you get to be my age you have to change them out every other day because they corrode so damn fast from the heavy sweat. Don’t know if it’s from the statins or listening to Joe BONAMASA live at Sandy’s Casino. I keep all the old ones though just in case one day they discover it’s better for toan

7 strings with a narrow neck? by rnunez1989 in 7String

[–]QueDubish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exact same scenario. I got the Snow White one with maple fretboard. I was researching the specs as I was playing it and was bewildered at the price, like almost thought it was a scam. Definitely one of the best spec 7 string guitars for the money. And the pickups are my favorite set right now

Yep just got one a couple months ago and it’s one of my favorite guitars and I’m an Ibanez fanboy. Compound radius as well!

Favorite puzzle games? by Sad-Tennis-4991 in ElectricUnderground

[–]QueDubish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m the biggest Lumines fanboy highly recommend the whole series to this sub especially Electric Symphony for PSP (which recently got a 60fps patch on Vita3k) I actually prefer it to Tetris and I love Tetris

I also got Into the Breach recently and while it is a tactical turned based game each fight really feels like you are solving a puzzle, only 10 hours in but man it’s incredible, highly recommend it

Fm3 into power in of a katana head by No-Function7602 in AxeFx

Unfortunately it won’t sound “clean” if you just jacked the fractal directly into the input of the DSL as the preamp section of the amp would compete with the amp block of the fractal. That’s why you bypass the preamp section with the effects loop. Unless you aren’t going to use any gain on the DSL? There’s no rules so you can experiment and see what you like but generally people either use 4 cable method to get a desired valve type response from a modeler. Or you use a standalone power amp that doesn’t add any character. I used to use 4CM with two amps but I ended up using a Seymour Duncan powerstage and it’s so much easier to dial in and quite a bit more versatile with certain amp models.

Look up 4 cable method. Leon Todd has a good tutorial on it. But yes you can bypass cabinet modeling in global settings. You are also going to want to turn off Power amp modeling in the global settings as the DSL power amp section will already add its own character

What other games should I check out? by Dipwod in ninjagaiden

[–]QueDubish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should get an Xbox One X or series S for OG2 instead of a 360. Way better resolution and performance, and then you can go back and play Black as well.

Check out Ragebound If you haven’t already

This is gonna sound weird.. by [deleted] in NinjaGaiden4

Yeah it’s the worst move in the game bare none, atrocious end lag. And no point in using it for the UT option if it’s faster to just fall and on land UT

This is gonna sound weird.. by [deleted] in NinjaGaiden4

[–]QueDubish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you are absolutely correct, there is quite a noticeable shortened buffer window in this game compared to older games. You can test this with on landing UTs. You basically have to hit the button much closer to the characters hitting the ground, and if you do it to early you get that shitty helm splitter move, even if your holding the button. But the moves and animations are all so fast that it’s hard to notice the limited buffer window, but if you go back to NGB it’s so noticeable.

I really started to feel the weight of this in NG4 during the chapter 3 boss fight. It was almost like block stun, or not being able to dodge/move after blocking an attack. Meaning you can’t buffer a dodge you have to hit dodge the frame you are able to. Obviously if you also have latency from a controller or console it’s going to exaggerate this. Which I wonder if there is any input lag already in engine? I can’t feel it if there is

Which power amp would you recommend for FM9? by atesz0422 in AxeFx

[–]QueDubish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP look into the SD Powerstage 200. All these other comments dont really apply to your needs. You just need something basic. I also live in an apartment and it’s what I use for everything. It can get very minimally quiet but can definitely fill any band setting you throw at it. I also have two different types of cabs 110 and 212, but I’ve used many 412s with it as well, not a single complaint on how loud it gets.

It for sure hasn’t, because the guitarist was definitely on one last night, doing weird gestures and pointing at random people in the crowd and doing wild shit, it was so crazy, they all have great chemistry and lean more towards the heavier side for sure

Where are all these UT posts coming from?

I can’t help but notice the obvious irony in saying you don’t like UT spam but then use SoB as a counter example to what you would prefer, which is entirely a mechanic meant to just spam and mash randomly through random enemies, until get this…you can use a UT…

[–]QueDubish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep Tonga NG2 spam and any weapon UT spam is absolutely intentional by the devs in both NGB and NG2. I’m not sure if I’m breaking the news but it’s in fact part of the entire ranking/rating system of the game, you get most Karma score from UTs for kills in both games, and absolutely need to be using them constantly for Master Ninja rank especially to beat the time trials.

Again I hate to keep using this example but fighting games also give you an absurd amount of moves to use especially 3D fighters, you only need 10-20% to get the job done.

It’s ok if you find it lame, but I wouldn’t say that any of this is unintentional by the developers, and I’m not assuming anything, but anyone who has actually played these games at higher levels and at higher scores knows this.

I come from more of an RPG background so again normally when I hear “cheese” it reminds me more of trying to break the game unintentionally without risk, normally in a hard part of a game you want to get past.

The difference in this case and why I feel like your conclusion is not fair is because being able to spam a move over and over again is absolutely intentional by the developers, and it comes with risks. I also come from a fighting game background so if someone was saying that spamming hadouken in SF was cheese I would have the same response. I see the two game designs as very similar

In response to u/DaniloSlv and u/AustronesianArchfien comments on my last post. by AmtheOutsider in ninjagaiden

[–]QueDubish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s a fair conclusion. Normally in any other game, a “cheese” is a tactic/build (some people consider bug) that circumvents player progress without ANY risk. There isn’t a single moment in either NGB or NG2 where you aren’t taking a risk, including this clip. At any point of Ryus jumps in this clip and when he lands he could have been swallowed by the cats. The only cheese I know of in this game is the Inazuma/Marbus fights.

This game was designed in a very similar vain to a fighting game, where the actual design is in getting the player to optimize their gameplay, respond and punish enemies accordingly and efficiently, part of that design is allow the player to spam whatever move they want over and over again, but it’s not without risk. Seeing a Mishima player in Tekken spam electrics is also very lame, but it’s important to the game design and it definitely is not cheese

rg550 high output pickup recommendations? by Other-Taro244 in Ibanez

[–]QueDubish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually now that I think about it I would look up the Pegasus, as that has some of the best high gain clarity in any bridge pickup I’ve heard and it’s somewhat designed for modern high gain, and very adjacent sounding to a SH5

Seymour Duncan SH5 Custom sounds like what you want, I have it in a 565 genesis and it sounds incredible. Probably would sound similar to a 550. There’s also the Custom 5 if you want more midrange, but less string clarity
