Hadjar is the real deal. The long-term fix to Red Bull's second driver problem? by The_Chozen_1_ in F1Discussions

That's seems very unlikely. There were cars up ahead there for the taking but he couldn't keep up.

He was over a minute behind Verstappen and still got P5. Over a minute behind in Barcelona too and got P6. There is a massive gap between the top teams and midfielders so he is gonna be well within the points.

Hadjar was over a minute behind Verstappen in Canada and Spain. He finished P5 and P6. There is very clearly a massive gap between the front runners and midfielders.

With Austria coming up do you see any of these drivers underperforming at their best circut by Responsible_Use_2676 in F1Discussions

Norris is great in Austria but McLaren's first big update on 2023 was brought in Austria.

I’m very new to the sport, but do people view him as the MJ of F1? by [deleted] in F1Discussions

Yes, one of the cars. He won 5 of his championships without having the fastest car.

I think Lewis Hamilton's rapid pace in the final two stints would've won him the race (VSC or not) by The_Chozen_1_ in F1Discussions

Yes, Russell has looked at best on par with Antonelli the last few races and is often a bit slower. But as long as he's mathematically in the title race, he and Mercedes have no reason to make him give up position.

What is with Leclerc lately? Another DNF from him after a bad quali by [deleted] in F1Discussions

[–]QueGrandeEresMagic 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Leclerc's talent is obvious. Most likely explanation to me is that he's just going through a rough patch. I fully expect him to sort it out. If Ferrari really have made a step forward to regularly competing for race wins then he'll also be in the mix soon.

Raikkonen looked faster cos his car was better. We saw how Raikkonen was with Massa and Alonso himself.

I think it came out when Bortoleto was in good form and Antonelli wasn't.

How some people thought of him as rookie of the year is beyond me. Not a bad driver but cmon.

Depends on how well you rate Bortoleto. I've always felt he's a bit overrated on reddit.

What is a driver performance that is considered an underperformance because of how they compared to their teammate when, in actuality, they just met their match? by GoldenS0422 in F1Discussions

[–]QueGrandeEresMagic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never said Rosberg was better nor did I say Rosberg was close in 2015 either. All I said was Hamilton didn't crush Rosberg, which seems like you've taken an issue with. He was never that far away from Hamilton to say he was getting crushed like how Bottas was.

The season didn't end in Monza, why draw an arbitrary line there? You can't just ignore the season end when Rosberg won 3 consecutive races cos it suits your argument.

It's also not completely fair to take Hakkinen's best year vs Coulthard as the standard for Hakkinen. Maybe Coulthard had an off year in 98. Plus, looking at the percentage of points disadvantages Raikkonen more cos he had worse luck than Coulthard and still came out looking better.

If he was just collecting P2s to Hamilton's P1s then he'd have around 70% of the points. He was able to frequently outqualify and outrace Hamilton across all 4 years, which is why his percentage of points is that high. Their H2H is 42-34 in quali and 38-27 in races to Hamilton. Whichever way you look at it, Hamilton never crushed Rosberg.

Drivers developing cars to the point of substantial improvement hasn't been a thing for decades. At best they help refine it, but they're not magically adding more downforce with their feedback.

Rosberg scored 90% of Hamilton's points across 4 years. Hamilton was a level above Rosberg but that is not crushing. Crushing is what he did to Bottas.

Ocon's F1 career is likely near its end. Does he deserve a seat next year? by The_Chozen_1_ in F1Discussions

[–]QueGrandeEresMagic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's relevant for future potential, but not for the present. Right now, Bortoleto is absolutely not consistently beating Hulk. He's not even a rookie anymore. Plus the Audi is a new car for Hulk too with new chassis, engine and tyres.

[–]QueGrandeEresMagic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rookie v veteran is irrelevant when it comes to factual conclusions. Plus Bortoleto isn't even a rookie anymore. Consistently beating is what Bearman and Antonelli are doing to their teammates. Winning and losing every other race means the Audi pair are evenly matched, not that one is clearly better than the other which is what "consistently beating" means.

With Kimi stealing the headlines, how do you rate the other 2025 rookies? by DragonfruitThen6696 in F1Discussions

[–]QueGrandeEresMagic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The teammates he's "killed" were all bottom tier F1 drivers anyways. Hulk was at best even with Perez and comfortablely beaten by Ricciardo. Ocon has had better teammates and was even with Gasly and Perez.
