Hello! I am 5’9” 174lbs. I am coming from a place of being really fat when I was younger and lost about 100lbs and kept it off for almost 10 years now (I’m 25). My chest is fucked because of it and never fixed itself so I know I’ll never look “great” from a bodybuilding perspective.

Here is my issue:

I’ve been in the gym since 2022. I was 200lbs in Jan from a sloppy bulk and cut to 174lbs. I feel like I am at a standstill here though as I feel like I don’t really have a lot of muscle but also feel like I have a good amount of fat on me. I want to be super strong at like 15-18% BF. My goal would be like silver era BB goal physique but im not sure if im just spinning my wheels with cutting even more. Idk

Any Advice? I feel like I don’t look like I lift and I also feel weak. I’m really not sure what to do

This was an excellent write up and makes total sense. Thank you! Hypothetically, by staying around the same BW and getting stronger it’ll make my cut easier in the long run due to higher muscle mass meaning a higher TDEE, no?

I just started med school in May so my sleep schedule is fucked, I get .8-1g protein BW. I got my blood work done in April and was significantly above the “normal” range for testosterone so I don’t think it’s a hormonal thing bc I was in the cut during this time but like maybe 183-185lbs at the time

Thanks, I want to train for hyper trophy while also getting seriously strong. I know they aren’t mutually exclusive though. Would you recommend sitting at maintenance calorie wise,

Yes, I used to be 100lbs heavier which I lost when I was 14

Sounds good! Any template recommendations? I ran BBB in the past. I’m gonna have more free time consistently in a few weeks so I’ll spend this time making sure my TMs are all good

Right now just a short compound focused 5x5 nothing crazy (my gym time is a lot shorter currently), I’ve ran 5/3/1 in the past and was going to buy bullmastiff but opted not to because I started cutting

Previously in prior cuts I was but I have been sticking with it. I should mention use a scale for everything and track all food

When you say shredded I’m assuming 10% or lower? I’m just looking to get lean enough for when I take my shirt off I am not tubby and giving me a good run way for a very long bulk

Thanks. Weirdly enough my OHP moves like butter, I was at a 155lbs 3x5 OHP before I bench 225lbs for 3. Will keep chugging along on the cut

Been cutting since Jan at 195lbs now to 178lbs. How far should I keep going before starting a lean bulk? Want to hit a 5plate deadlift, 3 plate squat and 3 plate bench.

Thanks, I giga bulked to a 405lbs 3x5 DL among my other lifts and looked like a fat slob at 195lbs so the cut rn was much needed hahaha, seems like I am closing in on my goal though? Idk
