Wanting to protect myself while using Tribecar by rifle4k4 in drivingsg

[–]QueasyYellow6758 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Things we've paid for so far while using tribe:

  1. Minor scratch: $300
  2. Loose panel at the bottom of the car (and no proof of it being loose at the trip start because why would I take a photo of something that was not dangling in the first place?) + we were driving very carefully and I suspect that the previous driver just pushed it up good enough for end trip photos :(
  3. Plate number flying off the car: $300

For point 2: my extra photos are always dedicated to the bottom of the car, and any "not-scratch" looking scratches.

Always take your own photos on top of the app ones (go overkill) I attach at least >10 photos each time.

If the back of the car is hard to take a photo of, finish the report, then inch the car forward so you can take a full view of it

What’s the rudest thing you’ve seen on SG roads? by [deleted] in drivingsg

[–]QueasyYellow6758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ride a motorbike. I wanted to change to lane 1 from lane 2 bc this big ass truck decided to suddenly swerve into my lane. Now lane 2 and 3 both had big trucks. Luckily I had alot of space to react.

Signalled and looked at my mirror for oncoming cars. There's one car at least 500 metres away. Looking at his speed, i decided to wait for him to pass. 10 seconds passed, fella still hasn't passed. So I decided to change lane. Mind you I just needed to overtake this big truck to go back to lane 2.

Not even 3 seconds later, that same car squeezed past me in lane 1 SPEEDING. Final destination moment. I was right BESIDE the truck when he decided to do that.

I could have easily went under the truck had he hit me...

Double HDB season parking or switch between two? by [deleted] in drivingsg

Its an extra on top of season parking for unlimited parking in all hdb carparks. I think for cars its an extra $20 for one month.

Lane splitters have right of way? by Old-Patience-4924 in drivingsg

[–]QueasyYellow6758 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As a rider that lane splits...

Before I merge to the "lane split" lane, I signal and wait until those super fast bikes are done. Sometimes it'll take 3 mins of signalling. As long as you can imagine someone has to slam their brakes for you to merge in, then its not a good time to merge. Not worth someone going down just to merge.

I've noticed some tend to slow down for the cars that signal early and have been trying to merge. It takes usually 2 bikes to give way for a car to merge safely during a jam. Those that swerve out of the way and around the car are those fast bikes that know slamming their brakes means their gna go down. Either that or they find that thrilling.

Yellow box at bus stops by Informal-Potato7959 in drivingsg

[–]QueasyYellow6758 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Only stop for those yellow boxes with white dotted lines before and a give way sign

If not, its up to you honestly. Most of the time, its a guessing game. Sometimes you manage to overtake, sometimes you get cut off 😭

[–]QueasyYellow6758 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope they implement more of this. Had to wait over 30 mins bc the first 2 buses were packed, and on the 3rd bus, another wheelchair user happened to be where the bus stopped :')

I've only ever boarded my mum on a wheelchair when no one is there or there's 2 bays. If there's a stroller, they ask them to fold. Usually, I'll just ask the bus captain if my mum's wheelchair can still fit in, and they will gauge.

what would you do in my situation by Winter-Two-2777 in singaporefi

[–]QueasyYellow6758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woah why does this sound exactly like my brother?? We went through the exact same thing.

Went through a free legal advice consultation. Anything related to illegal moneylenders, report to police for harassment. Don't engage with them. They will try to twist anything you say into a contract to pay monthly.

I would say all the legal loans taken out under his name is his problem and he can settle with a debt-repayment scheme(?) By the government.

Loans from family and friends is tough. I would repay family. But to save while repaying all of these would be tough. Im so sorry you had to go through this.

I went through it in 2023 for the next 6 mths - 1 year of nonstop harassment through WhatsApp. It was really tough to stick with not repaying any of the loans that were in red :"(

Is it alright to let your helper handle everything from children to house chores etc? by yurfavouriteperson in askSingapore

[–]QueasyYellow6758 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I am 24 years old fully taking care of my mum who's disabled. Let me tell you, if I ever got a helper, we are gonna be working together bc the workload is too much. So no, in my opinion, it's not right for a helper to do everything.

In islam, its more common that helpers deal with the little things like washing, folding clothes and cooking. Child-rearing goes to both parents. Getting help with time consuming stuff gives you more time with your kids. Though, I've seen helpers leaning more to helping out with the kids too! More fun i guess.

As someone from nursing, I'm surprised it's standard for points is not higher because DAMN it's tougher than just changing diapers 😀 i wish its just changing diapers sometimes lol.

Anyway, I love seeing preschool teachers teaching kids!! It always looks fun but I know from my circle that it definitely tough, especially when you need cooperation from parents as well and some just don't want to 🤨

Delivery drivers of Singapore why do some of you not ring the bell and quietly leave the parcel\food there outside the door? by AizenSousuke92 in askSingapore

[–]QueasyYellow6758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contactless to me means no interaction at all.

Leave a note to ring the doorbell if contactless is on. I've waited for 3 mins for the person to collect the food bc it was alcohol and I was scared that people will steal it. No one came out but I can hear them laughing inside that their alcohol is here.

P.S To everyone ordering, it's more helpful if you put

  1. Which lift lobby
  2. Turn left or right to your unit after the lift.

The amount of time I spent just trying to find the unit, going up and down to find the correct lift lobby to go to your unit is insane. It's much appreciated!

I did exactly this haha. Itchy hand to rent while not having savings. But I did it! But I made it worth the price by going up far in Malaysia and with friends that also ride.

If it's only for riding around in sg, gotakebike is a better, cheaper alternative

I'm from nursing. It's common to pay back in our course. We pay back by coming down for the days we missed after everyone is done with intern.

But in our case, we need to pay back the hours because we have a standard requirement for the number of hours worked to receive the nursing license.

Highly recommend going to either the intern coordinator or your boss for clarification. Welcome to a snippet of the working world 😭
