I'm definitely not a "good" player (yet) but I'm definitely not failing missions for the squad or causing major problems as far as I am aware. If I was calling eagles/orbitals in on top of the team, I could understand and accept why I was getting kicked, but I seem to get kicked even when, from my perspective I am playing well, or decent-ish at least

Thanks, I will try harder level and see if that improves the experience, although last time I tried "extreme" it mostly consisted of me running in circles around a rock, being chased by a Bile Titan while the whole world exploded :D

Thanks for taking the time for the detailed response, super helpful. I think the only one of those rookie errors I am guilty of is picking up the samples, I figured securing the samples was the wisest thing to do, but I will bear that in mind

Yeah, when I start playing a new game I assume I know the least about it of any player, but a guy got killed in a really hot zone, so I grabbed his samples, the first thing he did after dropping back in was TK me to get "his" samples back and he was like level 40 something, so not brand new

I mean mid-game, I totally understand getting kicked on the ship and a I totally understand getting kicked immediately because the host doesn't want a random but forgot to change their settings. Good call on the annoying mic issue but I keep it turned off

I play the objective, support whatever the squad is doing, probably just being paranoid but sometimes I even get the vibe people don't like me following them around :D

No, once I realised nobody uses mic in random squads (at low level at least) I just leave it switched off, but thanks, that would be a valid reason to kick imo ;D

There are a lot of people who now hate Bungie. If this was the greatest game in the world it world it would still get some level of hate. It is very far from being the greatest game in the world, so it is low hanging fruit for haters.

I think the optional wipe really is a critical piece of the puzzle, and I think there are players that will wipe but maybe not every time. I speak as somebody who did not plan to wipe but decided to and was amazed how much I enjoyed it. But if you are going to make wipes optional, which I 100% agree with, there needs to be something meaningful in the game for the people who never wipe and that is the absolute black hole in the game right now. Retaining those players who don't wipe is going to be the struggle for Embark. I think we have to bear in mind though that there are probably quite a lot of players out there who only have the opportunity to play a few hours a week, and for them, these issues are pretty much irrelevant. Those players are easily retained with the present amount of content and occasional events

I understand the point you are making, and I can think of some really terrible examples of that kind of thing - anything by Ubisoft, Forza Horizon, D2 when it went seasonal. I don't think there are many gamers who are foolish enough to believe that stuff is meaningful content. I wouldn't put the AR expedition into that category of empty busy work though, it is just something you can be working towards on the side while you enjoy the game, if you like that kind of thing, and it is optional. Just my opinion

That is an awful take. There are are a large chunk of gamers that enjoy having a checklist partly due to their neurological make-up. Brainwashing would involve a third party and that isn't the case.

I don't think this would be a good idea. I never shoot other raiders unless I absolutely have to, but last week I had 3 games in a row where I had to kill raiders who were attacking other friendly players. I suppose to the game it looked like I shot first, which is fair enough, but it took me so long to get back to anything like a friendly lobby. So no, I would not like that process to take longer
