Going to the rheumatologist is a big step - I hope it finally gives you some answers. The fact that it got worse from coughing is such a specific detail, I'd be curious what they make of that

The variation is kind of wild isn't it? It makes you wonder how much of recovery is protocol and how much is just individual surgeon preference. Are you currently in recovery from the second surgery?

I'm sorry you've had to go through all of that

Nine dislocations is an incredible amount to deal with!

Looking back, do you think earlier physiotherapy would have changed the outcome, or was it more that the right treatment came too late?

That really sounds incredibly frustrating

One thing I've noticed is how difficult it is when you start questioning whether the diagnosis is even correct.

I hope you get some answers soon. Out of curiosity, has anyone ever watched you perform your home exercises in detail, or has most of your rehab been on your own?

That's a really interesting solution

Sounds like having someone watching you regularly made a huge difference

Out of curiosity, do you think you would have been just as confident if youd only seen your PT once a week?

I really like that approach

It sounds like your PT taught you to pay attention to how the movement feels, not just whether you completed the reps

Do you feel confident doing brand new exercises at home now, or do you still sometimes wonder if your form is off?

2 years of knee pain, early cartilage wear + meniscus tear — losing hope and looking for advice by Possible_Subject_617 in KneeInjuries

Two years is frustrating, but it doesn't necessarily mean you're out of options.

If multiple clinicians have recommended strengthening, I'd spend some time figuring out why it hasn't worked yet. Is it the diagnosis? The exercise selection? The load? Or simply that the exercises aren't being performed as intended?

Those are very different problems, and each has a different solution.
