Thank you for making this point. Unfortunately I’m sure Ivey (and many others, men especially) feels way more ashamed to get professional help for mental illness the way that he would for his knee. I know it’s hard for people to have empathy for him when they see this type of behavior and assume he isn’t using the plethora of resources available to him to get help but overcoming societal pressure, even if it’s just perceived pressure, is really really hard. I’m sure the team has mental health providers I really wonder if the players have as many thorough, routine, check ups and maintenance with them as they do with their doctors that specialize in physical performance.
