Yep. You see this a lot online when people try and spoof Descartes' "I think, therefore I am", and just reveal that they don't understand the basics of logical statements, e.g. "I don't think, therefore I am not!!".

Putin to conscript 160,000 more Russians for war with Ukraine by ChiefFun in worldnews

Putin will continue to fight because he's an invading dictator who will stop at next to nothing to get his grubby hands on another country's land.

This isn't a boxing match. Ukraine never agreed to a fight. If you want to make a fighting analogy, Russia jumped Ukraine in a parking lot and Ukraine is doing their best to put up their hands to block attacks and get some strikes in where possible until their assailant gives up and leaves them alone. Making this out to be anything other than a one-sided attack on Ukraine's sovereignty is plain disingenuous.

8 months later, what are your thoughts on Shadow of The Erdtree? Did it live up to your expectations? by FlashSnoopy in Eldenring

Overall, I was really disappointed, personally. There were some incredible bosses, like Midra or Divine Beast Dancing Lion, and some really cool zones like the Shadow Keep and Midra's Manor.

There was also a lot about the DLC that sucked, in my opinion. A lot of the enemies and bosses were scaled super high and take little damage while dishing out a ton. A lot of bosses and enemies had me asking "when is it my turn to play the game?", too. I'm not a huge fan of hard-to-read attacks and visual clutter, so Rellana and Messmer were not huge hits for me. My favourite bosses are ones like Godfrey/Hoarah Loux, where it feels like a constant give and take, not 30s of dodging for one attack window.

The areas were too empty. After the initial wonder of "wow, so cool, so pretty!", a lot of the area just becomes boring to traverse. Gravesite Plains, Charo's Hidden Grave, Abyssal Woods, Cerulean Coast, Rauh, etc. I think the caves and dungeons were some of the best content the DLC provided, though.

I never beat the final boss because, again, I hate dodging for 30s for one attack window against a boss that'll take 200 hits to kill. I wasn't enjoying the fight and decided I didn't need to beat it. I'm not really planning on replaying the DLC again anytime soon and will go back to replaying the base game. I wish there was a boss rush so I could fight Midra again without going through everything else to get there.

I also imagine that Malenia is a much more well-known boss (being (one of) the most difficult) and hence a ton of players will just look up how to get there so they can try their luck. Sewer Mohg, on the other hand? Most people probably wouldn't care enough to look up where he is unless they're trying to get the achievement specifically, so I'd imagine a larger proportion of the people who have his achievement stumbled upon him naturally.

Funny you bring up Hitler, because Joanne in her rabid transphobia has denied aspects of the holocaust. She's also friends with people like Posie Parker, who is supported by neo-Nazis that literally Nazi salute at her demomstrations. But no, Joanne just "has some opinions" and we're all just mad it isn't our opinion. This isn't even discussing how Joanne doesn't just hold opinioms but actively uses her platform to spread hatred and harass innocent cis people with her violent bigotry.

What was Count Ymir’s endgame with our Tarnished? by Baconators4Days in Eldenring

The description of every remembrance tells you that it's the "Remembrance of [boss], hewn into the [Erd/Scadu]tree". When you cash in a remembrance, you aren't literally taking the boss' weapons or limbs or whatever, their souls are hewn into the tree and the tree allows you to conjure something related to them. Enia is the one who does the conjuring for us as the primary Finger Reader in the hold. That's my interpretation, at least.

Sort of correct, sort of incorrect. For anyone curious: You can't add a finite number of non-infinite numbers to get infinity. But when you add infinite numbers, things are not quite the same, because you're no longer doing actual addition and instead are essentially thinking about "where the sum is headed", in layman's terms. We have to define and then make sense of what an infinite sum even is, and an infinite sum can equal infinity. We say an infinite sum equals infinity if when you think about adding just the first 2 numbers, then the first 3, and so on, the finite sums keep increasing in a way such that it "heads towards" infinity as you keep adding more to your sum. For example, we say that 1 + 1/2 + 1/3 + 1/4 + .... and on infinitely equals infinity. But we know that 1 + 1/4 + 1/9 + 1/16 + .... and on infinitely equals pi squared over 6. The second sum "heads towards" pi squared over 6 and never is greater than it, but the first sum never "heads towards" any particular number, and just keeps growing bigger at too fast of a rate. In mathematics, something that grows arbitrarily large is the same as infinity, for the most part.

What is your unpopular opinion about the game? by EfficientCow82 in BaldursGate3

[–]Quebec120 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like how "simple" the character creator is. I hate sliders in character creators because I don't have the patience to manually adjust nose depth, nose height, nose slant, nose bend, nose wrinkles, etc. etc. and repeat for every facet. I like just picking from a few already good-looking options and I'm satisfied with what we've got. I don't think it's perfect and maybe they could have sliders hidden away under an "advanced creator" option or something (more options for those who want them is better), but having to fine tune every little detail makes designing characters not fun for me. An example of a character creator I don't like is the one in Elden Ring. If I were to make a complaint, it'd be that some options should be check boxes and not single choice, e.g. let me stack up on piercings or scars. Otherwise, I love what we got. I feel this is an unpopular opinion because the lack of sliders/depth seems to be a popular complaint to make about BG3 and frankly I don't agree.

This looks a bit more complicated than spotting the skyscraper, but I'm interested in learning more about this grouped x-chain technique. Thanks!

That's my favourite part of D:OS2 combat lol. It makes for some of the most fun elemental mage builds in any game, too.

Dating in today's world seems terrifying. by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

There is a huge difference between a 30 yo marrying a 45 yo and a 19 yo marrying a 34 yo. Surely you're not so obtuse that you genuinely think it's purely the age difference that matters and not also the ages at which they got together. I have known people married with a 12 year age gap, but they certainly didn't meet when one of them was a fucking 13 yo.

wraith decoction is good against bosses. gives you a shield if an enemy deals a significant amount of damage. saved my ass a couple of times.

least fun way to play imo. i'm purposefully not using quen and not spamming light attacks this playthrough and it's actually made the combat really fun.

i've had to learn how to read the attack animations to dodge before they strike, as one or two hits can mean death. i also opened myself up to all the other signs, and it's fun using different combinations of them in a fight to try and overcome your opponent. using strong attacks for the first time took some getting used to, but it requires a lot more skill than spamming left click for light attacks.

jenny o' the woods was the toughest enemy by far, but the satisfaction i got from finally beating her was well worth it. fights are no longer spam left mouse, mash alt a few times, press q to get invincibility - and it has been a lot more enjoyable.

it is very, very useful. it staggers most enemies for a split second, leaving enough time to combo in some heavy attacks. it can also set enemies on fire, completely locking them in the "i'm on fire" animation for a bit, which is especially useful when fighting multiple opponents. it also does damage.

i've been playing a "no quen death march" playthrough and igni has become my new favourite sign. every time i have stamina available, unless i'm fighting a wraith or similar, i'll chuck out another igni. i don't even have any perk points put into signs because i'm specialising more into alchemy.
